For one, he's a far better defender. As such, he has more value than Walton.
Offensively, he's more efficient, and he's a far better slasher.
In terms of Lakers needs, he's simply a better fit.

Well Luke averaged 11/5/5 before but this season Ariza is better.

1a. AI
1b. Melo
3. kmart -- Only post presence on the team at the moment without nene.
4. JR -- Incredibly talented, game has taken a huge step in the past 2 months. Explosive scorer and, despite perception, skilled passer.
5. camby -- Most would say #3, but I just don't like his game. I think his defense is highly overrated and his offensive game is questionable and not efficient.
6. nene -- I would have him at 3 if he's fully healthy/in shape, but that's very rare.
7. najera
8. kleiza
9. anthony carter
10. chucky atkins
no one else ever plays

Trevor Ariza LOL only in LA..
the Spurs are the best built team in the NBA with roles, so there really isn't much talent on the team outside of the big 3..I'll rank it in order of importance IMO..
Tim Duncan
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
Bruce Bowen
Kurt Thomas
Michael Finley(when he's making shots consistently)
Ime Udoka
Fabio Oberto
Brent Barry
Jaque Vaughn
Robert Horry
Ian Mahinmi(for the future)
Matt Bonner
Michael Finley(when he isn't making shots consistently)
Bobby Jones
in no order, except for the last guy..

Yeah, I was talking contribution, rather than pure talent.
A pure talent ranking would look a bit different.
