Kobe and Shaq come Together
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I think we now know why Michael Jordan is so much better than everyone else. He doesn't feel fear. He senses fear in his opponents but he doesn't feel fear inside of himself. Even when he was 38-39 and had diminished skills he didn't fear anything. In that comeback season he only played 60 games but made 3 game-winning shots (@NY, @CLE, @PHO). And this is at an age when athletes usually lose their nerve. And I recall reading in one of his books, he says when he takes a game-winning shot theres no concern about missing it, because the possibility of making it is so tantalizing. And that when he does miss them he moves on straight away without a care. That doesn't refer to the longterm fear of playoffs, but its clear he sees the glass as being half full rather than half empty. Also, look at the facial expressions on players as they are taking important shots, you can actually see a look of panic on their faces when they watch the ball leave their hands. Jordan didn't have that look.

This also applies to Antoine Walker.

he feels fear like any other player. he simply embraces it like shaq and kobe were talking about. And players don't necessarily lose their nerve as they get older (see: horry, nash, reggie miller, stockton, etc) only their athleticism and, hence, productivity per 48.BRINGTHEPAIN wrote:I think we now know why Michael Jordan is so much better than everyone else. and he feared getting exposed on defense at age 38, which is why he never ran his mouth at the kobes, tmacs, nor vinces like he would have if he were younger (but he did against rafer alston tho) and why doug collins had the stackhouse's and hamilton's guarding those players the majority of the time anyway.

I agree,
Also, he's said it a few times even on Nike ads, he isnt afraid to fail... but he is afraid not to try at all...

so is it fact that Jordan never ran his mouth towards those players?
You mean trash talk?
Im sure he still trash talked... he probably had more material.. like "Oh your not gonna let a old man like me score on ya" stuff like...
Or "You call this.. GAME!?... more like kid's play"
hehe, I can actually see him saying those on court.
BUT.... in terms of talking on the media calling players out... its very very rare.
The thing with Kobe.. is he practically made the decision to mimic Jordan... a lot of Kobe jock cleaners will probably disagree.. but who you kidding?
And its not a bad thing.... because Kobe is the closest to Jordan... and theres nothing wrong with mimicking great players to elevate your own game... nothing at all....
