I just watched the 2nd half of todays Mavs/Suns game, since I only saw the 1st half and the last 40-50 seconds of the 4th originally, heard/read what happened before - what a performance by Dallas
Especially on defense - that was just a great shutdown job in the 4th qtr as a team. Easily one of the best defensive performances of the season.
The keys to that being Kidd defending on Nash, the switch of Dirk off Amare to George/Howard mid-4th qtr, and Dampier defending the interior and Shaq.
All three were basically taken out of the game (Nash mid-3rd on, Amare/Shaq 4th).
With the match-up on Amare, combined with the hounding defense on Nash, George/Howard being bigger, mobile, lengthy fowards, stayed with and denied Amare the ball, keeping him away from the paint. Amare just got a couple buckets, and one FT. I also noticed Amare had one of his low, below-average rebounding games that are a trend sometimes, only getting three in this game.
Barbosa as usual against solid defensive teams, was a non-factor. Everybody else disappeared, too.
While it's the regular season, it still stands out - Nash once again was effectively defended, and the Suns offense just pretty much went away. For the majority of the 2nd half, he was made into a contested jumpshooter.
All this being the result of the Suns 9-point 4th qtr.
With Dallas' recent play and trade, I was questionable on who'd win in a Mavs/Suns series, but with this game, I'm swaying to Dallas again. I do so, because, the play and match-ups on defense that emerged from this game by the new look Dallas, relate to playoff basketball. Also, on offense the still standing situation of Phoenix's inability to limit Dallas' main offensive guys. Specifically Dirk and Howard. Like on both sides of the floor, with the pre-Kidd Mavs.

I'm watchin basketball for over 25 years and have yet to see a team with such terrible, (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and nonschalant attitude such as this Nuggets team.
Now they're probably going to win their games against the Clippers, Jazz and Rockets just to lose against Memphis or something like that.
They need to fire Karl the minute this season ends and hire Larry Brown or JVG.

Denver is just living life on the wild side
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."
