Someone like a WNBA player or something, could she?

I don't think the players would respect her. So while a woman could definitely coach a team I don't think she would be effective.

I think there can be... But it has to be a woman with such dominating character that her mere presence demand respect, because just like Bogut would tell you, the NBA is full of egos.

I doubt it. Not that one couldn't be as capable. I see the NBA moving more towards coaches with NBA player experience, which rules out a woman.
Also, let's first see a woman coach establish herself in the college ranks before even wondering if one could even make a member of an NBA staff.
Are there even any women trainers? or team doctors? (I don't know, I'm just asking.)

if Pat summit was a team's coach and the players didn't respect her, then I hope every player on that team gets Bobby Phills'd.

I don't think a GM would give her a chance

No because she has no experience in the NBA.

Half of NBA Coaching is ego management. Hiring a woman kind of throws any possibility out the window.

I know the Utah Utes Womens Basketball coach Elaine Elliot, she is far and away the smartest basketball mind I have ever known. She has been in just as many games both playing and coaching as most men coaches, I see no reason why she couldn't translate her success from the womens game to the mens.
But like everyone has said, it's a respect issue first.

Yeah what's so funny? Kobe listens to Phil alot better than most other players listen to their coaches.

like others have said, the respect factor would be a big key..
I would be concerned for her safety if she took Phil Jackson's job though..

Male coaches seem to work fine for teams of women, why not the reverse?
