Article: ADRIAN DANTLEY HALL of FAME BOUND???

Source: NYPost

April 7, 2008 -- Pat Riley, Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon are out-bets to be officially announced today in San Antonio as Hall of Fame inductees. This is the first year of eligibility for the hallowed coach and the two centerfolds.

The Post has learned Adrian Dantley, on the ballot numerous times, will be appropriately honored. At 6-foot-5, he's widely considered the greatest low-post player inch-for-inch of all time. The current Nuggets assistant coach downed 23,177 points (24.3 average) in 15 seasons. Nicknamed "The Teacher" for the way he schooled opponents, averaged 21.3 in 73 playoff games.

Hall of Fame committee members, according to a second source, inexplicably failed to pay homage to Dennis Johnson for his innumerable accomplishments - three titles, one Finals MVP, six first team all-league defensive team and three second teams. I was unable to discover whether nominees Chris Mullin, Don Nelson or Richie Guerin gained entry.

Good to see AD finally get in. He was a bit of an ego tripper, but he was an amazing player his entire life, has a gold medal and is one of only a few players to put up over 30 PPG for multiple seasons.

He's one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. Well deserving.

It is about damn time... the whole HOF is a mockery when they have crap players like Calvin Murphy( who is a freaking scrub compared to other players) in before players like Artis Gilmore and Adrian Dantley.

It makes me want to puke that they have Dick "I have a raging hard on for the ACC" Vitale in in the hall of fame.

Glad to see other people recognize that AD deserves this. I agree with Batronuj that AD was bit egotistical and I think that turned some people off to him, but if you look at what he accomplished, its well deserved.

Congrats to AD!

Dude had an absolutely sweet game. Many a Pistons fan heart broke when he was traded for Aguirre in '89. Well deserved honor.
