Lakers-Suns and Cavs-Washington 1st round series AGAIN

3rd year in a row. Has this happened before?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/matchups?season=2008
top 7 spots in the East are done. There's a good choice that the Suns stay in 6th since the Rockets own a tie-breaker and Dallas can't catch up.

I'd watch Lebron-Washington due to the rivalry between Lebron and DS. Lakers-Suns because it's the West.

Very scary match up for both Lakers and Suns fans, both teams have ALOT to lose by going out in the first round.

Suns would get destroyed by the Lakers in 5.

But it ain't happening. No way the Suns stay at 6. they'll pass Houston. Additionally, Lakers will probably get #1 seed.

I have them sweeping the rest of the games this season.

The top 7 seeds in the East are "done" in that none of the top 7 are falling out of the playoffs, but the matchups are by no means fixed as of today.

As a Wiz fan, I enjoy seeing the Cavs again for the rivalry... although last season didn't count with Arenas AND Butler injured, and the year before... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhbM6uuCt74)--but, in all seriousness, I think it's only good for the league and for entertainment of the fans to see teams meeting year after year in the playoffs.

As for the Lakers and Suns, it would be a great series to watch, but it's also kind of a shame that one of them would have to get knocked out in the first round as in any other year they'd be second or third-round teams, so to speak.

To you original question, though, I have no idea if this has happened before--but it hasn't happened yet, either.

Those seedings would be perfect! We'd likely see Boston-Orlando, Detroit-Cleveland, LA-New Orleans, and Utah/Houston-San Antonio/Dallas in the Second Round! Excellent playoff series! I look forward to DVDing as many games as possible.

Actually it would be Detroit/Orlando, Boston/Cleveland

2 plays 3, 1 plays 4

Lakers in 5 haha you just made my day. Lets be realistic here more like Suns in 6. Good luck stopping Amare and Shaq inside.

Suns actually own the tiebreaker of the Rockets. They will be fighting for their lives to get home court vs Utah instead of facing the Lakers or Spurs w/o home court. No way they don't get that 5th seed. Plus Rockets still have a few tough games (vs PHX, @ Uta, @ Den). PHX should take care of the rest except possibly San Antonio.

They already did.

Feb. 2, 2008 - Lakers won in Phoenix by 6... And without Bynum.

As a Pistons fan I LOVE the seeding. Detroit would play Toronto then the Magic or Sixers to get to the ECF, three teams they handle well. All the teams in the EC that give them trouble are in the other bracket. Quite lovely. Let LeBron and the Big Three beat each other up.

Be some GOOOD playoff bball in the West. I'm psyched.

You are talking about Shaq's first game with the team. In fact they started 2-6 with him.

Not sure about that. With or without Bynum this series will go 7 games and go down to the wire. I have to see what Gasol and/or Bynum does in the playoffs. We know that Amare and Shaq bring it come postseason, but Gasol has not been the same and we don't know about Bynum yet.

Saying any Western Conference playoff team will beat any other Western Conference playoff team easily is homerism in my opinion.

You can say Gilbert and LeBron have a rivalry because of the FT thing or whatever. But NBA journeymen don't become rivals with superstars just because they cry to the media about something.

Slava Medvedenko didn't become Tim Duncan's rival just because the Spurs and Lakers played a lot.

I swear to god Laker fans are the cockiest fans in the world. They think just cuz they got Gasol that they will win it all. Dont forget Gasol hasnt ever won a playoff game(0-12) in 3 years. Bynum hasnt played since world war 2 so he isnt in shape.

I think it will be rockets and lakers because rockets have to play against the Jazz, and that will break the tie.

Were cocky? Why, because we feel that we could beat you guys in a series? Every fan thinks there team is better than the opponent. Thats what makes you a fan. And with Bynum and Gasol, I (along with many non-Laker fans) absolutely think they are the better team, plus its lookin pretty likely that the Lakers will have home court.
