Hopefully this will be an interesting thread that won't lead to any bickering or arguing.

I created a post similar on the Bulls and Lakers board regarding their respective teams, but I am curious on when most posters began to actually watch the NBA in general.

Also when did you become a fan of the team you like now?

I remember watching the 92 playoffs and the whole jordan era. I also became a fan of my team when they added Duncan.

I started watching Wizards basketball back in the late 90's.

Not a great time to be a fan of Washington, but it only made me stronger.

88 or 89? I remember watching "The Shot" with my Dad. He wasn't very happy. I became a Grizz fan when they moved, simply because they're on TV there (Memphis) alot and I like basketball. You cheer for who you know, ya know? If I want to watch NBA ball, I'm probably watching a Grizz game. I'm definitely a basketball fan before a Grizz fan though.

1994-5 season.

I've been a Nets fan pretty much the whole time, but I wasn't very enthusiastic about it until the Kidd days.

I started to watch sports in general around 95, and ironically that's when the Heat had just got Pat Riley. -- Sports wasn't a big thing in my household, but my little brother has followed suit; just as big a sports fan as I am, and he started very early.

about 90-91, just missed the bad boys, I distinctly remember telling my mom that I was rooting for the guys in Gold and purple over the Bulls, since they knocked out the Pistons. (I was 6 forgive me  )

Became a full fledged Piston fan around 92-93, yay Allan Houston, Lindsey Hunter era.

man the 1998 eastern conference finals was bar none the greatest series in the 90s bar none, name me a better seven game series. (Maybe the 94 finals but i thought the one against new york wasn't really that good.)

I think it was my first exposure to NBA basketball, being that my family just migrated from Germany, and my step-father happened to be a Lakers fan, being from California and all.
