For moments like this is why I AM A FAN
Here is the deal. Tonight the standings are like this...
These are the Western Conference Standings
1. Lakers 55-25
2. Hornets 55-25
3. Spurs 54-25
4. Jazz 53-27
5. Rockets 54-25
6. Suns 53-27
7. Mavericks 50-30
8. Nuggets 48-32
9. Warriors 48-32
These are the standings sorted by relativity to 1st by Game Behind
1. Lakers 0
2. Hornets 0
3. Spurs 0.5
4. Jazz 2.0
5. Rockets 0.5 - Home court
6. Suns 2.0
7. Mavericks 5.0
8. Nuggets 7.0 - Owns Tiebreaker
9. Warriors 7.0
The Jazz want homecourt advantage, the Rockets want to keep homecourt advantage and still face the Jazz. The Nuggets want to stay in the playoffs, the Warriors want to get another glimpse to the playoffs.
Very very tense moments for all of these fan bases.
With Utah's defeat tonight of the Nuggets, now the races have become very very tight because the Warriors still have a chance to make the playoffs.
Houston Rockets @ Denver Nuggets
This game holds quite a HUUUUGE significance.
If Houston losses, that means that the Warriors would have to pull an upset against Phoenix because of the Nuggets win, meaning that their season will be likely over. A Houston loss means also that Houston adds another loss to the books, and then the very next night they would have to face Utah in a game back-to-back in Utah, which is delusional to think that the Rockets will in in Utah, and this would give the chance for Utah to play the Rockets with homecourt advantage.
Now if Denver losses, that means that Denver falls out of the playoffs sights, and the Warriors have the chance to clinch the playoffs on the last game of the season. Houston in the meantime, again, it means a loss, and then a very likely loss on monday plus tie breaker for Utah, which means, no homecourt advantage, and the retention of Tracy McGrady as the 2nd round virgin.
So, All 4 fan bases are biting their nails and going nuts.
First the spectators....
Utah Jazz are clearly expressing their desire to face Houston and see Houston sink in tomorrow's game.

Golden State Warriors fans have already made a gamethread for the Houston and Rockets game. Everyone counting on the Rockets.

But then there is also the people involved in the game...
Denver Nuggets are calling this the biggest game of the season and obviously extremely special to the playoffs hopes...

Houston Rockets are also clamouring that they win this game, cause if they are to lose to Utah, they will have homecourt advantage, and they believe they have the best chance.

I mean... WOW!!! What a significant game for ALL 4 FRANCHISES. I just can remember such a significant game this late this season. There is only 3 games left for HOU, GSW, and DEN, and 2 games left for UTA. WOW! One game means post season, or terrible season.
To make matters more extreme, Rockets and Jazz have been cheering for the Lakers to start losing and New Orleans winning.
There is already a thread in the Jazz board to cheer and pray for the Spurs to win, because if they don't, they fall to 5th and matchup with the Jazz, but if they do win, the Lakers stay out of the top spot in the West, and the Rockets keep having a better chance at a final as long as there is no Kobe on the way.

Simply amazing to be a fan right now. This is an insane Foursome or also Sixsome. I just don't remember the NBA being this fun since 10 years ago.
At any rate, Go Spurs and Nuggets tomorrow. Show 'em guys!
Aren't you enjoying this race in the West?

I couldn't agree more with the OP, this is just awesome. Pistons pretty much clinched the 2nd seed a couple weeks ago so I've been just trying to follow this because it's so exciting. Once again it's all the small things account. You remember it was kinda like this last year, when GS clinched their spot on the last game of a season, when Dallas decided to rest their main guys pretty much forfeiting to GS, and then we all know what happened after that!
It does suck for me though because I live in Michigan so therefore I don't really get a chance to watch games live.

I looked at the OP and just have no idea what is going on.
Honestly not a clue, I could catch about 10% of that but it sounds like some elborate story planed out by a 14 year old with too much time on his hands. Whatever though, I'll wait a couple days and then I'll be able to figure out what's happening.
The East is much better and easier to understand. ATL is going to be the eight seed and our opponents in the first round.
We just beat ATL with our back-ups playing the entire fourth quarter going from a tied score to a 10 point win. Awesome.

LOL you are so biased. Rockets can easily win in Utah. It is not delusional thinking a 54 win team can beat a lesser team on the road.
Also I love how you go through an entire scenario how if Denver wins, Houston is screwed because there is no way they can win in Utah and they will lose their home court.
Then the next paragraph, the scenario that Denver loses and they might not the playoffs if that happens. But yet again Houston loses again. And will get trounced by Utah the next game and will lose in the playoffs for sure.
There is a lot of hating in your post at the expense of the rockets.

It is crazy and I love it. You didn't even mention the race for the top seed. After the Hornets' loss last night, the Lakers now control their own destiny. If they win today and on Tuesday against the Kings they get that top seed and play either Denver or Golden State. They lose one of them and there is a pretty good chance they're playing Dallas or Phoenix.

I wish the playoffs would start today
The western conference standings are finally perfect
LA vs Denver : I agree with SAS that this would be a very exciting matchup. Plus I went LA to go far and I'd be a little worried if they got the #2 and had to play Dallas
NO vs Dallas : I like the sound of it and I think NO is the only team that Dallas could be guaranteed to beat in the first round. I don't want to see the Mavs lose in the first round again and then Avery Johnson get fired.
Spurs vs Suns : I need not say a thing
Utah vs Houston : rematch from last season, give T-mac a shot at redemption.
