Utah Jazz in awkward situation

So here it is for the Jazz assuming that Houston beats the Clippers on Wednesday and the Suns beat the Blazers.

If the Jazz win @ San Antonio they get home court in the first round, but have to play San Antonio.

If they lose they play @ Houston in the first round.

The Jazz are the most dominant home team in the league, but if they win @ San Antonio then all of a sudden they have to win 2 more in a row against San Antonio just to hold serve on home court, meaning essentially they have to win three games in a row against San Antonio which is a huge task.

So what would you do? Beat San Antonio and trust your home floor? Lose to San Antonio and trust yourself winning a game in Houston?

***Edit, this information be incorrect, see bolded statement on page 3***

You really think the suns will beat the blazers? The blazers gave Josh Mcroberts playing time last game, they can't lose.

I think Houston would rather play Utah than PHX. I think the Jazz would also rather play HOU than SAS because they have beat us before even when we had homecourt. You don't want to test SA even if you have homecourt over them. But, PHX would get 3rd seed with scenario right?

being a houston fan, i'd rather play the rockets than the spurs.

utah hasn't won in san antonio in the last 20 games there. i believe that dates back to the at&t center being built.

i'd go with playing at houston.

whoa what happened to if SAS and UTAH win they wont face each other...i took ur word for that :D

i think we can beat SAS with our homecourt. Hell i can see us stealing one in SA. bring on the spurs!

I'm not a fan of tanking at all, and obviously the Jazz won't do that, but I must agree that the Jazz's odds of beating the Rockets in Houston is probably greater then beating San Antonio three times in a row and protecting the HCA.

if san antonio loses in portland, does that lock them against the suns in the first round?

We are not playing in Portland... We are playing IN SA vs Utah.

but you can say the exact same thing about the spurs

would they rather face the jazz or the suns?

they can easily tank the utah game and gave away home court to play jazz instead of the suns.

which will then leave suns to play the rockets with rockets having the home court.

this makes the playoff picture very interesting as teams try to find the most favorable match-up against each other.

of course, every team would like to play the rockets because of them thinking it's an easy to 2nd round.

There's no reason not to choose HOUSTON.
The spurs will demolish them.

Utah HAS to tank!

They would have possibly the 2nd easiest 1st round match-up!

Maybe the Jazz and the Spurs will try to tank it!

Wouldn't that be an interesting watch

Tim Duncan fakes an injury at the end of 1st quarter, and then Boozer acts like he landed on Bowen's foot in the 2nd quarter and takes himself out of the game.

Will be very entertaining, my guess Spurs and Jazz 65-65 tied and go to OT

Rockets want to face the Jazz. Jazz want to face the Rockets not the Spurs. Choice is easy if Houston pulls off the win against the Clips..which is far from a sure thing considering how we have looked the last two games.

ya but the biggest problem here is that san antonio does not want to play against phoenix, not with shaq in there.

but as you said, jazz wouldn't want to play the spurs so they'll likely tank.

so you have two teams who want to tank on purpose to get a favourable match-up against the rockets.

decision looks simple for jazz/spurs and rockets/phoenix have no say on this, of course, suns will secretely be rooting for spurs to lose so they draw rockets.

Utah:
win, homecourt against spurs
lose, away against rockets

Spurs:
win, homecourt against phoenix
lose, away against rockets

Rockets:
win, homecourt against jazz
lose, don't know

Phoenix:
win, rockets win, spurs win, homecourt against rockets
lose, don't know

The following Match-Ups would be great:

Lakers vs. Nuggets (I Hope Lakers can close it in 4-5 games)
Hornets vs. Dallas
Spurs vs. Suns
Jazz vs. Rockets (Bragging rights since Jazz and Rockets fans keep arguing against each other) and I hope it goes the distance of 7

Option 1:
Utah have Homecourt against Spurs and the 2nd round on the road against Hornets.

Option 2:
Utah on the road against Houston then 2nd round on the road at the Lakers.

I like the 1st option. I don't want to play the Lakers till the WCF's

All these possibilities are giving me a headache.
