Block after a foul?

I forget what game it was but someone got fouled when trying to shoot, but the help came and the shot got blocked. The commentators then mentioned "Too bad X player won't get credit for the block." So it got me curious, do they give a player credit for a block after a foul when the penetrator attempts and And1? (I'm also considering that what the commentator said could also be false) I don't understand why they wouldn't; I mean, the play is still going on, and the player will try to throw up a wild shot to get an And1. If he's going to be credited for a field goal attempt, then the defender should also be credited for the block.

The matter is really trivial and wouldn't affect the way a game flows if this was changed, though this was something that has been pestering me for the past couple days.

Quite simply: They only count it as an attempt if you make the shot. If you miss, it's not an attempt. If it's not an attempt, then (statistically-speaking) there's nothing to block.

That explains it, I always thought they counted attempts even if they didn't make it. Makes sense since Bosh seems to always be hovering around .500 on his FG% yet rarely converts on his And1's.
