It's inevitable...Kobe will pass Shaq for all time greatness
It's becoming clear that the Lakers are this year's 'Team of Destiny'.
It's like the perfect storm...everything's working out for them. Consider that the Lakers can beat their arch rival Suns, AND Kobe's arch rival, Shaq, in the same series!
Kobe will get his MVP, he already has the #1 seed, and he will get his 4th ring.
And unlike Shaq, who needed Wade to get his 4th ring, Kobe will do it all by himself, and grab the finals MVP. This season is the 'beginning' of the second phase of Kobe's career. He will grab another 2 or 3 rings after this year, and be on par with the all time greats (MJ), leaving Shaq in his dust.
Looking at it from afar, it's almost too predictable.

He has a chance, but now you must remember that he should get to the finals this year as he has the homecourt advantage.
And I don't call a guy getting 19 and 9 doing all by himself, also another guy who will at least get 15 and 10 is not either, let's be real on that.

There is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that the Patriots are going to win it all now. Nothing is getting in the way of 19-0.
And while it may be 'historic' and 'unprecendented', it doesn't change the fact that it will be a boring conclusion to this season.
I can't ever remember a more boring end to an NFL season. No tension is left at all.

LOL @ thinking Kobe will pass Shaq on the all-time lists. He'd have to start dominating at a level he's never demonstrated, and do it for at least 5 seasons. He'd have to win at least 2 rings on his own and at least 2 Finals MVP's. He'd have to win 2 MVP's. In short, it's not going to happen, especially the dominance part.

He's got one of the, if not THE greatest supporting cast. Gasol, Bynum aside a strong bench, fisher a veteran and Odom, which IMO is very underrated. Add a MVP player like Kobe and that team SHOULD win a title, not winning a title with that material would be epic fail.
Yeah, Kobe and his supporting cast's combined one All-star appearance is THE greatest supporting cast. If that let's you sleep at night. KG supporting cast has 15 AS game appearances and 14 of those are still playing at prime levels.
Even Deron has 5 AS appearances surrounding him. Paul's got 4. The Spurs and Mavs have All-stars and former all-stars coming off the bench.
Odom wasn't "very underrated" to anyone back when everyone was claiming Diaw and Marion were better than him. AI's got Carmelo and the DPOY.

I've said as much. Paul gets the award, NOH loses to Dallas in the first round. nice.

It's certainly a top 3ish supporting cast when healthy. Kobe has never had Gasol and Bynum at the same time, but when Bynum comes back there is little doubt that the Lakers are one of the most talented teams in the league. The supporting cast hasn't been the greatest in the league this season though because of all the injuries and mid season adjustments. When healthy given a little time together, Lakers are damn scary.
Can Kobe pass Shaq? It's possible, but he has some climbing to do. I have Kobe around 15th all time right now, while Shaq is 8th or 9th on my list.
