this is from a thread opened by LA-LA-Land in the Lakers board. I thought it would be appropriate to post it here also.

Whoever thinks Ron Boone is more of a homer than Sean Elliott is out of their f'ing mind.

Gil McGregor is a pretty big homer and generally a pretty oblivious color guy. He certainly isn't objective, nor does he have a wealth of NBA knowledge.

Matty Goukas should be dead center in reality...

The Lakers guys are pretty objective even though they lack knowledge. They'll rip anyone on the team at any time (thanks to the Chick Hearn legacy). They were ripping Kobe during his 53 point game in Memphis. They also give lots of props to other teams players especially their young and developing talent around the league (they're on Travis Outlaw's nuts).

The Raptors announcers suck. I'd rather watch their games in Chinese or Spanish.

Mike Rice may be an obnoxiously annoying homer, but he knows what he's talking about most of the time.

Gary Bender has no idea what the hell he's talking about half of the time, and Eddie Johnson is less of a homer than he is.

I don't know about them lacking knowledge, but they are extremely objective.

Mark Jackson and Mike Breen are the perfect announcers?

Well all the Nets announcers are in the upper-right, which is where they belong because most of them are national announcers as well. None of them are Nets homers.

No way. Not only does he say some of the most blatantly ludicrous things involving the game itself, he also likes to call people by the wrong names. Rice calls radmanovic, romanavich. Called Baron Davis, Brian Davis, ect... Rice is right about perfect where he is on that graph.

Where's Ralph Lawler (sp) of the clippers. Him not being there is a travesty. Either that or hes so great that he's off the charts.

Most game Rice sounds like a befuddle old man who doesn't know how he got to the arena. As a blazer fan he is pretty damn amusing considering he dumps on the ref (especially the older ones who he's known awhile). But he spouts some much false factual stuff, kills a not of peoples name and makes **** up.

I love the guy as a color commentator but he is pretty spot on in this graph.

If you watched a Nets broadcast, you'd understand why Jackson is where he is. The dude knows his stuff and he calls it right down the middle, and isnt afraid to speak his mind even if fans may disagree.

I just remember him from the nationally broadcast games. He tends to like everyone and he's almost in Bill Walton territory but at least Bill knows it's all a joke. Most of the time I think Mark Jackson is serious.

I loved when he Scottie Pippen that Kobe was going to end his career as a better player than Mike. Pippen looked like he was going to beat his ass back stage. Classic moment in broadcasting.

Love Marv Albert on YES though.

i think most fans hate their home announcers.

the blind homers probably love the announcing, but no one wants to hear something so one sided all the time.
