Lakers and Hornets have had an amazing turnaround, experts didn't even foresee these teams in the top 5 of West let alone top 2.
Lakers
For Lakers, do you think it has to do more so with Kobe demanding change/trade, Mitch keeping holding his ground and not trading Bynum or Kobe.
Certainly, the Pau Gasol trade changes the picture, but would that have happened with Kobe not opening his mouth in the off-season?
John Ireland (Lakers analysts) on ESPN First Take said Kobe deserved 50%, Phil 25% and Mitch 25% for the Lakers turnaround.
For me really, I believe Kobe and Mitch were a vital piece, had Kobe not said anything, I'm sure Lakers would still have Kwame and Cook on the roster. And Mitch really held his ground and made the right moves.
Hornets
For me it has to do with a combination of Byran Scott, Paul, and "Health"
Last year Health was a big issue because West and Peja missed a lot of games.
Scott who has taken so much criticism from a lot of people especially from the Nets really kept this team together and turned them around with his experience, and he has been to NBA finals as a player and as a coach.
And Paul for being the core part of the team and becoming the best PG in the league hands down! He is better than Nash, Williams and any other PG you can make a case for!
NBA is Back and yes the Celtics are back
