I'm not mormon, and I have my own problems with the religion, but to call out a religion and to make biased, close minded comments like this is seriously a step back for sports writers everywhere.

Crap like this needs to stop, it's no different then what Don Imus said, and considering ESPN made Jackie Robinson day the #1 play on Sports Center last night I would assume they have to take some action on Ric during this time.

The guy is a loser.

You don't have to be like that. I was asking a real question.

Mormons deserve to made fun of. My friend is Mormon and some of their beliefs are just sad.

The guy is an idiot.

I've never understood the "well their crowd is loud because there's nothing else to do in Salt Lake" argument. Like the city is just void of movie theaters and symphonies and restaurants and bars and just about anything people do for entertainment around the US.

This is the direct quote from him that some would take offense to. I don't take offense, I just think it's dumb:

"Let's face it, they're Mormons and they are in Salt Lake and there is nothing else there and you know you got to smile and be happy all the time..."

He is basically saying that the games are an outlet for the Mormons (although later he does say that he shouldn't be painting with such a broad brush) to became a group of antagonists in a socially acceptable way.

Oh please, like everyone there is Mormon or that Mormons who are asses don't exist.

Sounds like you are not a true friend to that Mormon for not respecting his religion.

I think that the mormon religion is the most absurd fairy tale in American History, but I have no problem with people believing whatever they want. I have a couple mormon friends in my class, both named john.

One is one of seventeen kids. His family christmas card is a brochure with four folds, three pictures each flap, with 8-15 people in each family photo.

I went to lunch with the other guy today. His wife is smokin' hot, he's got a beautiful baby, and he's really happy with what he's doing.

While mormon people might not have the most sound religious tale, followers tend to have strong moral values and much better family values than the greater share of Americans, religious or not. All the mormon people I've met are incredibly nice and really cool to chill with.

Insulting mormon people is stupid.

Are you out of your ******* mind???????

He said there's not much to do in Utah, and that Mormons make such an effort to be nice positive people all the time that they seem to view Jazz games as a place to vent their surprising darker side, and that what gets said there to opponents is as vulgar as any arena in the country. What the F is biased or close-minded about any of that?

He is saying something quite valid. Playing there at Utah is intimidating. His reasoning behind the fans behavior might not be um " kosher" sorry couldn't put a better word but I think there is some level of truth behind it. I mean jeez if you win on the court you are liable to get things thrown at you.

Well I don't think it is too much to ask to not be a prick to someone for their reglious beliefs. Do you treat someone like that if you don't like the party that they vote for?

I've seen things thrown on the court at Denver games before. Is it because Denver has some large Mormon population I don't know about?

Oh forgive me for not understanding why people would be more rowdy than usual given that they don't have another baseball, football hockey team.
