In my scenario you still get the 2 top seeds but there is much bigger room for upsets and better 7game series.

Look at Bostons run through Portland, Phoenix, The Spurs & The Lakers.
Now that is a champion. The current style Boston only has 2 tough series to the championship

That would be pretty fun to watch. they might as well...if the sonics move to oklahoma we would have a few teams playing out of division location wise.

NO should be in the east not the west and same wit hthe grizz....if sonics go to okc then the northwest division would be weird.

Nah, no reason for that kind of shift. It would just require some shifting of the divisions within the conference. If any team moves East it should be Minnesota, since they have the longest plane flights for games in their division. But generally I think the NBA tries to avoid moving teams between conferences if possible.

The best shift would probably be taking Phoenix out of the Pacific and put them in the Northwest, and putting Portland in the Pacific. Then you leave the OKC Sonics in the former "Northwest" division, rename it the "Midwest" or something. Geographically it makes the most sense.

^^^ Makes the most sense and I actually have NO DOUBT whatsoever that Stern will do just that.

Portland is ont its own on an island over there and Minnesota is as well.

This enables Portland an easier travel sched within its division.

The issue still remains though about the whole travel thing.

Unfortunately, there's nothing anyone can do.

The east has FAR many more teams bunched together than the west.

You can never get away from that as the states themselves quite simply have FAR bigger land masses to the west, therefore, creating more travel time.
