I love that he's even listed as the starter on ESPN.

ginobili = a talented but inconsistent starter who wins his fame by coming off the bench, and having an unorthodox style, along with major flopping abilties like all argentines in the league.

his winning mentality makes him a great player though, very smart as well.

Is that you, Mike D'Antoni?

Congratz Manu. Although I never really understood why Finley starts and Manu is his backup. Manu is hands down better.

Manu helps us keep our flow when Tim and Parker go out.

It makes sense and works because Parker and Ginobli's game overlap so much. Manu has time to freely operate with the bench guys, without having to share with Parker. And still he's the primary closer and ball handler at the end of games.

this was a no-brainer..

the 6th man award shouldn't go to a guy like Manu, Barbosa or Terry though..it should go to a guy that plays a certain amount of minutes, where he could actually be considered a role player that contributes off the bench..

Yeah. There should be a rule that you need to have the 6th most minutes played on your team. What's stopping the Magic from starting Hedo Turkoglu on the bench, calling a timeout after the jumpball, and bringing him back in and playing him 36 minutes for the game?

I only chose the Magic/Hedo Turkoglu because it's a player having a breakout season that may not get recognized.

The point stands.

6th in mpg on the team is a good idea.

Still, as far as the rules go, Manu hands down......should have won it last year too!

I mean, every team could do this. Some Pistons fans have advocated benching Rip Hamilton and starting Arron Afflalo to provide more defensive intensity. Or starting Jason Maxiell/Amir Johnson and bringing Antonio McDyess off the bench so that he can be the focal point of the second unit, offensively.
Coming off the bench doesn't necessarily make you less than a top 5 player on your team.

Sportswriters vote on the award, and even if it was the coaches that vote it wud be Pop that chose Barbs, not D'antoni (since they can't vote for their own playas, duh)

Congrads to Manu, the only clearcut no brainer award for this year

Let's also not forget Detlef Schrempf when he used to come off the bench. Dale Davis started even though Detlef was cleary the superior player.

Barbosa should have gotten it. J/P

On a serious note, congrats Manu
