Yep, he's been great in April.

He's going to get a nice pay day this summer....

The Raptors have a decision to make this summer. They can't afford to keep both Calderon and Ford and have a successful team. They need to find a team desperate for a point guard with a good small forward.

He also came within a hair of making the fabled 50/40/90 club, clearing all those hurdles nicely, but didn't qualify because the minimum number of free throws needed in a season was 125 and he had something stupid like 120.

I believe he would've been the 6th player in:

Bird
Nash
Disco Dirk
Reggie Miller

... um...

Mark Price?

Good point. Cleveland needs a PG. Think we can flip TJ for LeBron?

those stats can say the opposite, but imo the season is being too long for him, he looks tired

He's not tired.

Their ideal small forward is Artest, but they can't get him for just Ford. I could see them going after Maggette if the Clippers don't think Livingston is able to handle coming back.

It's looking more likely that the pairing will be broken up this summer with the greater likelihood being that Ford is the one that heads out.

I like Ford's game a lot, but Calderon is excellent too. As long as we get good value back for whomever is traded, then it's all good.

Ford's value is obviously difficult to gauge with his injury concerns. He's an excellent PG, but a little wild sometimes. What would other teams give up for him?

Yea, that's the scenario that seems most likely to me at this point. Some sort of form of Maggette for Ford, it seems like an excellent fit from both sides.

There's no way he has played great this past month. His jumpshot is so off. Those assist stats are very misleading.

If the Sonics wind up with Beasley would Raptor fans be interested in a S&T with Calderon for Jeff Green and anyone else not named Durant? Something like Calderon for Jeff Green, Ridnour & Collison?

Or if the Sonics wind up with the #3 or lower pick would you be interested in getting pick in the #3 to #5 range for Calderon?

The 1st deal is pretty solid from a value standpoint and would definitely be considered. I'd probably decline though, even though it is very interesting. I'm not particularly high on Green to do it. Collision is excellent filler though.

The pick deal is also something that is extremely interesting. From a value standpoint, it works, but I don't really know who I'd take at those spots. It'd probably be between Mayo, Gallinari, Lopez & Bayless from a pure talent standpoint I suppose. A Ford + Bayless backcourt is a terrible combo though. I'd be inclined to go with Lopez, even though he's the 'safe' pick.

It all depends who's there at the pick, but I'd probably do it.

Well as a partial Raptor fan myself I think Ford is the one who should go but the more realistic scenario is a S&T with Calderon. That is unless Calderon just absolutely loves playing in Toronto with Bosh and is willing to take a pay cut which is a possibility given his unselfish nature.

And let me clear the air. I'm a Knick fan #1, a Hornet fan #2, and the Sonics and Raptors are tied for my #3 (I look up to Sam Presti of the Sonics as a role model and wish him well but I have loved the Raptors for a while. I loved those Oakley, Kevin Willis teams and I love Bosh, Calderon, Bargnani, Moon and the team that Colangelo has put together now.)

As an overall NBA fan in general I think the Raptors definately have to make a choice about what direction theyre going with Calderon or TJ Ford. Both players are great. But the one who will be easiest to move this summer is Calderon. Ford is overpaid and there are and will be lingering questions about his health. Plus his attitude towards coming off the bench after returning from injury is questionable. Plus the Raptors were a better team when Ford was on injured and that can;t be discounted. I don't think Ford has a whole lot of trade value given his salary and history. Calderon will be the easiest to move by far in a sign and trade deal. Ford will be tough to move. Too bad Isiah isn't in NY anymore he might be able to bail out the Raptors.

But as a Sonics fan I would love to see Jose Calderon team up with Kevin Durant. If the Sonics miss out on Derrick Rose and to a lesser extent Beasley I would be all for trading the pick or trading anyone and everyone on teh roster not named Durant for Calderon.

If the Sonics ended up with Beasley I would be all for Jeff Green, Collison, Petro, Sene and Wilkins for Calderon & Anthony Parker. Raptors get a 3 in Green, 2 centers in Sene and Petro, a backup PF in Collison and another SG in Wilkins. Sonics get the true PG they need in Calderon.

Calderon will be better than Nash and Jason Kidd combined.

I agree. Thats why I think he's worth giving up a #3 pick. Or he's worth giving up 4 guys who were drafted in the first round in the past 5 years 3 of them lottery picks plus a guy who would have been a lotto pick if teh draft could be redone (Wilkins).


Calderon is amazing. Of the young PGS in the league I rank them #1 CP3 #2 D Williams #3 Calderon. No questions about that. Go get him Presti!!! Thanks.

If we trade Calderon for the #3 pick, we have to select OJ Mayo.
