The Pistons are perhaps the most annoying franchise in the last 15 years. They win 1 title

6 consecutive conference finals = overrated. I guess LeBron is overrated indeed.

They are overrated, although they do have a good team. But when you hear the words "championship experience" and "veteran team" you don't expect to see one title (which came at the expense of the Lakers self-destructing), and a team that constantly looks past lesser opponents in the playoffs.

You can't drink the koolaid and call this team overrated. You can't have it both way. I'm tied of hearing how the Pistons only lost to lesser opponents because they looked past them. Fact is, when they lose, its to the better team (Miami, Cleveland). And Miami suffered from injuries in 04-05 when the Pistons made the Finals.

Detroit is an extremely talented and balanced team. Based on their talent alone, they probably should have won another title or so (notably the one that the Heat ended up taking). The problem is that everyone gives them the benefit of the doubt even though they haven't proven that they still have the championship drive. The prime example would be the people who said that they would beat Boston because they'd "been there" and Boston hadn't. The "been there" means they should want it more, which they probably don't.

I'm not reading too much into the game 1 loss. Afterall, SA lost to Denver in the first game last season and they turned out alright. I just don't see them being talented enough to make it past the Cs.

It's more of the fact that they play the Rodney Dangerfield card of no respect that bothers me. People around the league give them tons of respect. Detroit acts like they're equal to the C's or Lakers of the 80s. They have no chance of getting past Boston this season. The truth will become apparent soon enough.

They are overrated, in the sense that they are nowhere near being realistic title contenders.

But they are still an extremely good team. Just not the 'championship caliber' team everyone makes them out to be.

1 title 4 years doesn't really merit the kind of hype they get.

What I think happens to Detroit is they don't try often. I see it happen so much. They are a good team and they know it, and they think they don't need to try to win games. When they do try they are one of the best teams in the league.

ive always said that rasheed wallace is the best powerforward in the game when he wants to be. the problem is, he only wants it 50 percent of the time. the other 50 is F-ing around and smoking da dope. theyre coach is also overrated. the reason why KG never made out of the first round in the western conference.

I've always thought that Sheed was overated in this regard. I always thought that he was pretty good but in his prime he was still a definite step below KG and TD and probably Webber in terms of pure talent, let alone production. Today he's nowhere near "the best power forward in the game when he wants to be".

So are they the most overrated in 30 yrs or the most annoying in 15? You have to choose one topic and stick with it. This non-decisive dribble cannot be debated or discusses until we know the topic you want to talk about.

In 30 years, the Detroit Pistons have made the playoffs 20 times, been to the conference finals 10 times, been to 5 NBA finals and won 3 championships. Now THAT'S OVERRATED!!!

The current Pistons squad has been together since the 2001-2002 season. For the past six years they won 50+ games all 6 years, been in the playoffs all six years, been to the conference finals 5 years running and have appeared in 110 playoff games up until this point. I don't understand where all this "they've been there" talk comes from.

They broken numerous scoring, defensive and all-time league records. They watched head coaches turn over 3 times, watched the face of their franchise move to TWO of their division rivals and have been doubted every step of the way. Now they lose game 1 to Philly and suddenly they are overrated because the media wants to say how Detroit shouldn't have looked past it's opponent? Who said they did? Maybe Philly just came out of halftime more pumped?

For the all the people bitching about the Pistons arrogance... you hear the same BS every year... Pistons "should have beaten Miami and Cleveland... they failed". And yet the Piston organization is arrogant because this thought is being recycled by uninspired "experts" and "analysts" who can't come up with an original piece to publish on their spur of the moment webpages.

Actually they won 3 championships in the past 19 years... and only 3 teams can say that. MJ's Bulls (did it twice), the Spurs and the 2000-2002 Lakers.

I don't think they're overrated, but the fact that their title from 4 or 5 seasons ago keeps coming into discussions is overrated..

Nobody was taking the Rockets chances all that serious in 1998/1999 because they won some titles in 94 or 95...It seems like a lot people milk that 2004 title for all it's worth when talking about the Pistons..

I like the starters, but the fact that a lot of people keep talking about the deepest bench they had in years and how good it is seems odd... I like Maxiell's energy, but outside of that, I don't care for their bench... Hayes, Johnson, Ratliff and two rookies doesn't really strike me as a team that is deep...

The reason for the "they've been there" talk is obvious. We all know that they've been an elite team for a while. The fact that they've been there means they shouldn't lose to teams like the Heat or Cavs the past couple of years when they are supposed to have an advantage of "veteran savvy".

I agree with your sixers comment though. It won't be a big deal to me unless Philly wins the series.

They came pretty damn close to back-to-back titles. It would take a lot of hype to overrate 5 straight Conference Finals appearances, and I don't think they've received that much hype. There have been three premier franchises of the 00's: Spurs, Lakers, Pistons.
