Due to the physical nature, who are some players that wouldn't be as successful in past decades? who are the players that benefit the most from the "softer" defensive rules?..

Lebron wouldn't be much impacted at all, do you see what he's dealing with against Washington? How he's built?

My guy is Bosh. Would have been a C, yet would have been killed in previous NBA generations.

An injured Joe johnson... There wasn't many easy layups you know. He would have to hit the Jay consistently with hand checking and there was more shotblocking also.

Bosh, Kevin Martin, Wade

Dwyane Wade. He would've literally been killed going to the hoop, or he would've learned to hit the J with more consistency.

LeBron would be stronger then most PFs still back then. He'd do fine but might end up with more a career Wade is having. MIGHT because of the constant hard fouls all year long.

Also this is only if he had to carry his team like he does now.

Of course no one required US basketball to be represented by NBA players back then so LeBron would have goten more rest during the off-season.

Lebron isn't a great shooter and is a very poor free throw shooter. So no he doesn't do all the fundamentals. Even with that said he is a top 3 NBA player in the league today.

Iverson was playing with jordan etc...and he sliced him out his shoes twice then drained the jumper.. Iverson was also not injured like that so He would/did survive depending on how far back you are refering to

Iverson was also notorious for carrying the ball something he wouldn't have got away with in the 80's

And Isiah Thomas got throw around like a rag doll. CP is almost as tough as Zeke (who was one of the toughest players ever). He would have been great in the 80's. Chris Paul has all the fundamentals down pact.

lebrons build and power and skill he would still be the same player. i dont think alot of the player could match up with todays players to be honest those guys were skinny not as strong, and not as athletic. lebron would beast in any era!!

That's actually a blatant lie about his FT shooting. He's not a good free throw shooter but he's certainly not "very poor." He's shot 70%+ from the line in all but one season, which makes him just about average or a little beneath average.

Anyway, realistically, Lebron probably would have been primarily a PF in the NBA of the 90s, one who passed really well but a PF nonetheless. He probably would have rebounded better than he has done thus far, which is impressive, passed a little less and been more like a flop of what Bird did at the 3/4 (a 4/3, rather than 3/4).

People are greatly overstating the impact of the hand-check rule change. Hand-checking only played a major role in the NBA, roughly beginning in 92-93 till 03-04. Prior to that it was only a few teams that heavily relied on it (Bad Boy Pistons who brought it into vogue).

The real major is one that has been ongoing since the 1960's, stricter and stricter rules against cheap shots.
