Phoenix looks like they are toast. No team has ever come back from an 0-3 hole in the postseason, and the Suns don't look like they have a chance of breaking that trend.

Detroit meanwhile either (A) underestimated how good the Sixers can be (Philly ended the season quite strong), (B) didn't understand that the Sixers match up quite well with them; and/or (C) arrogantly overestimated how good of a team the Pistons are. Now they are looking at a 1-2 deficit with Game 4 on the road. Not as big of a hole to did out of as the Suns face, but still scary.

So, if these teams crash out in the 1st round, which is more likely to blow the whole thing up and start over? I think the head coaches are both in serious danger of being fired, but would either team look to move some of their star players?

P.S. - Should Steve Nash really be considered one of the all-time greats when he continues to show he can't guard ANYONE? Of the PGs who have been considered the best of all-time (Magic, Isiah, Stockton, etc.), I can't think of anyone other than Nash who wasn't considered at least an average defender. Can you??? (And the 3 I mentioned were all excellent defenders). Nash's great ability to create scoring opportunities on offense really are diminished when I see how many wide open scoring opportunities he allows on defense. I've read that he tries on defense -- so why the hell is he so bad?

I'm not sure where I'd rank Nash among the all-time greats, I mean his defense has always been atrocious and he's only had this ridiculous off-the-charts (team and individual) offensive efficiency for 1/3rd of his career...

There's also the fact that the guy will probably never sniff the finals, and Dallas got vastly better by letting him go. Although I'm not sure how much you can really hold not getting to the finals against Nash...

suns can't blow it up. some of their large contracts are very difficult to move and they don't even have their 2010 pick anyway.

One thing you need to consider, if Phoenix goes out in the the 1st round it will be to the defending champion Spurs. If Detroit goes home, it's to the sub-.500 76ers. That's a huge difference.

I think Phoenix wont look to rebuild, but they will have to look at making another major move in the offseason. I think they should go after Jermaine O'Neal with something involving Barbosa and #15.

Detroit will probably just fire Flip and try again next season, hoping a new coach will rejuvenate the team.

As a Pistons fan I have no doubt that if the Pistons fell to the Sixers there would be major changes. While Joe Dumars is a very straightfoward guy that likes to take care of the players and maintain good relationships, he is all about the team. He has no problem whatsoever moving a popular player if he feels it will improve the team.

We need to fire the coach first. Then look to trade Bell, Barbosa, and Diaw. In no particular order.

EDIT: I would not even care if it was less talent. We need a couple defenders, than can actually put a body on someone, and stop them from exposing the front court. Even if he is a 10/5 type guy with defense, because we really need to do something.

As of late, the Sixers are not playing like a sub-.500 team. That record is distorted as the Sixers started to play decent in February and onward. I would not judge this team based on their record. Otherwise, people get fooled really fast.

Both teams need to fire their coaches. I have always considered D'Antoni as pretty overrated. He has accumulated so much talent on this team, yet he was not successful in the postseason in 4 or 5 consecutive times. As far as Sounders is concerned, I don't think he has his players under control. It is hard to find a suitable substitute though. Maybe, he will remain there for another year.

Both fire their coach. I don't see big personnel changes. All of this stuff IMO its the coaches for both teams that hold them back.

It still isn't anywhere close. One is an elite team, a dynasty that has won 4 rings in this past decade. The other is a young team that has played well as of late. That is still an enormous difference. Not to mention the fact that Phili lost 4 in a row on its way to the playoffs.

I see Kerr making changes, especially since most GMs love to build their own team.

Suns can't blow it up. Sonics have two of their picks in the next three years.

"Blowing it up" is overused. Neither team would try to dump all their salaries and start from scratch.

Both would definitely reevaluate the direction the franchise is going in, and maybe trade a veteran for a young player or certain type of role player. I don't think either would ever have a firesale, no reason to.

Such a thing is actually pretty rare among a team good enough to make the playoffs, much less a team that got 50+ wins.

I think you are right about the psychology but I think Kerr is in over his head and will get fleeced.

I think that teams that trade with Phoenix are likely to get better.

It is a potential trend I intend to look for.

I'll replace the current Bulls team with the Suns team any day of the week.

And you don't think Steve Nash would net a hell of a young talent in return? Look at what vastly inferior Jason Kidd got the Nets. Trading Nash would land the Suns a young stud.

Yeah but that was because Rod Thorn was the one making the trade not Steve Kerr or anyone else in the Phoenix Suns organization
