What's Carmelo Anthony's impact on a game besides shooting?

Post#1 » by B-Scott » Sat Apr 26, 2008 10:58 pm

It seems like all he does is shoot the basketball. I was listening to the Laker pre-game show and James Worthy was talking about how Carmelo doesn't really impact the game. He's just a scorer who takes a bunch of shots.

He doesn't rebound or make his teammates better because he never passes the basketball. He only passes when he sees that he can't get the shot off. It's predictable.

He will isolate and go 1 on 1 and you don't have to worry about him passing it and he doesn't even attempt to play defense.

Hence, Denver underachieves with him, a future HOF, a DPOY, and a former All-Star.

Nothing. When he was in college and first came into the league he had a lot of potential and I saw him as becoming elite. He hasnt become a lock down defender which he needs to be to balance out his game. He is all scoring now and in the NBA to become a superstar you need defense also. Carmelo is a great scorer, but that only goes so far. He is lookin like rashard lewis/glenn robinson...straight scoring and nothing else.

He has the ability to smile like a dork even though his team is getting jacked in the post season, that's something

with luke/vlad guarding u, u either have to punish them inside yourself or draw a double for your teammates. the fact he's shooting jumpers with zero assists while his pf teammate is guarding the opposing teams perimeter player just says everything u need to know about his impact.

He's garbage IMO...the painful part is his defense. He doesn't even pretend to play defense

I'm really starting to question if he's really worth beeing an All-Star starter. I really doubt he would start in the East if he'd switch places with Lebron .

I've been saying this for a minute now..he's one of the more overrated players in the NBA..I consider him to be one of the top scorers in the NBA, but he does look like a ball stopper..other than scoring, he really does nothing..he's an above average rebounder when he gives effort, but he doesn't really seem to do that very often..

Anthony's main weakness is that it doesn't seem like he cares IMO..he just doesn't look like a guy that really wants to win..

you also add in the fact that he has ruined his image with the "hit and run" and the DUI..he also looks like a girl..

Anthony in the regular season for his career

(Per 40) 26.78, 0.479 efg, 0.545 ts

Anthony in the post season for his career (including today)

(Per 40) 22.29, 0.408 efg, 0.480

NIce to show up for the playoffs Melo. Perople rip Dirk for his playoff woes, but he's nothing like this choke artist. That's disgraceful. You can no longer give him the youth excuse, as this is his 5th playoff run and he still stinks. If I'm Denver management I have to be worried about Melo in the playoffs

Great scorer, good rebounder, awful passer, awful ball handler and very very poor defender. He's really disappointed me.

Melo is a good rebounder for his position offensively.

I wasn't meaning to bash him.I was just listening to James Worthy's pre-game comments about his impact on the game and just watching his game over the years. He rarely passes the basketball.

You see Kobe, Lebron, Wade (when healthy), Gionobli and Parker looking to draw the defense and find the open man if the defense collapses. It seems all he wants to do is shoot which makes Denver easy to defend.

Im glad because im a Laker fan. He made things much easier for us

Unless he drastically changes his approach to the game he won't archieve anything in his career .
