Even the Sonics are Laughing at You

Yes you--Mavs and Suns--for making franchise-altering trades that turned your window of opportunity into squat.

The Lakers, Trailblazers, among other teams, are sitting on some talented youth right now getting ready to make a dynasty, Celtics-notwithstanding.

yeah but both of those teams were sort of underachieving as it was - there was a reason they made the trades to begin with.

I suppose you could make the case the Suns threw away their window, but the Mavericks? They lost in the first round last year, they weren't winning the title this year trade or no trade.

Both teams were a smart acquisition/trade away from getting over their respective humps. Both failed. Miserably.

Suns-
It was either stand pat and rely on the same thing that hadn't won in previous years and get destroyed in the paint year in and year out, or make a move and hope that it could carry us over the top and protect us from the domination inside. So far, not so good, but look, we're playing the defending champs in the 1st round. Sure, the Suns didn't look to be down 3-1, but it was a move that had to be done, and still isn't completely shut. One game at a time, but it is looking very dim.

Marion was jetting anyways, so might as well make a move that could 'better' your chances at a ring.

They can laugh all the way to Oklahoma City.

both teams made decent trades that both had huge flaws.

mavs lost diop. leaving no defense in the paint.

the suns trad was actually really good, but steve nash still can't guard anyone and they picked up probably the worst first round matchup imaginable

both took HUGE risks to try to win a championships. that is very respectable.

Sonics have like 1000000000000 first round draft picks, some of them thanks to the Suns.

To the people saying they needed to make trades--yes, but not these particular ones.

Well, they weren't going to win anything standing pat - so I don't see how you can fault them for having the guts to make a real change, even if it didn't pan out in the first 2 months.

The Suns were a hell of a lot closer to beating the Spurs last year. The Shaq deal was a disaster. Everyone forgets that they could have scored KG on Draft Day last year, but they stubbornly refused to deal Amare.

This is a new one! A cocky Laker fan laughing at the misfortunes of the other teams lol! Good thing Gasol didn't succumb to injuries or you know, it'll be the same for you in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

come back when the Sonics are relevant, maybe 20 years or so. Durant sure as hell isn't going to stay in Oklahoma.

I don't think the Sonics are laughing at anyone.

They're too worried about the prospect of having to play in Oklahoma.

Why would the Sonics be laughing at anyone? Pretty soon Seattle won't have a team anymore and the Sonics as we know them (or wish we didn't know them) will cease to exist.
