Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Congratulations! Well deserved.

I'm sure New Jersey regrets firing him after he did so well for them; I wonder what Kidd thinks about this considering it's rumored that he played a part in running him out of town.

Uh no.

Scott had lost Kidd, Martin, AND Jefferson. There were also rumors that Kerry Kittles and Lucious Harris (two quality character guys) were growing tired of Scott's gloating. Scott had to be fired from New Jersey, he was becoming a detriment to the team.

Anyway it's good Scott won this award, since Kobe is getting MVP giving someone on the Hornets an award was the least voters could do.

Pretty much expected, well deserved.

People might say Doc, but I think given the expectations of both teams coming into the season, the Hornets overachieved more. Everybody said no way they stay near the top of the West by the end of the season, yet they did. Then they said the Mavericks experience (including myself) would likely beat the inexperienced Hornets but they're the ones up 3-1 currently going back home with a chance to close it out.

NetsForce,

If I am wrong about Kidd forcing him out of town, I apologize. But I am not the only who has read stories that they didn't get along.

As a matter of fact, there was an article on Yahoo a few days ago talking about the Hornets/Mavericks series and the history between Scott and Kidd.

That article was NOT the first time I had read about the bad relationship between Scott and Kidd.

Byron Scott did a great job with the Hornets this year, he deserves COY. That team is putting a hurt on Dallas in the playoffs, congrats to Scott & Hornets fans.

Sorry, I got a little ahead of myself.

But basically here's the thing, you're right the relationship between Kidd and Scott did go sour. HOWEVER at around the same this happened, Scott's relationship with Martin (and to a lesser extent Jefferson) deteriorated, and HE lost the team.

Scott has said it himself he's had to change since leaving NJ and work hard to keep his ego in check. It's because he is now doing this that he's a better coach in NO than he was in NJ.

Scott deserves COY, but I'm just tired of people acting like New Jersey committed some atrocious crime by firing Scott.

I'm shocked that the Hornets are up 3-1; I thought Dallas would win this series easily.

Byron Scott got this award based more on what Chris Paul and David West did than what he did. Adelman was much more responsible for what his team did this year than Scott or Rivers were IMO. Adelman was the best coach this year as far as I am concerned.
