he is 0-5 now in the first round and it doesn't look like it is going to change soon.

what does he have to do to get the monkey off his back?

A lot of of stars have had problems with this, like McGrady who will soon be 0-7, KG was 0-7 until he was MVP in 2003. But Melo has had great talent around (unlike Tmac, and KG), him I don't understand at times why he still hasn't advanced.

Well, one of the problems is that his team always ends up facing a much better team, and is thus not expected to win the series. However, not even winning more than 1 game in five straight 7-game series is extremely appalling.

Garnett had the same type of trouble in the past. I'd say the same for McGrady, but he did play on teams that blew both 3-1 and 2-0 series leads, respectively.

I agree. Should the Nuggets entertain trade offers for Melo? On one hand it would be dumb to trade a 23 year old franchise player who has never missed the playoffs, on the other hand it might be time for a change.

- Multiple team flaws relating to both ends of the court. Going up against good, balanced, versatile teams that are the worst match-up for Denver - T'Wolves.... Spurs... Clippers... Spurs.... Lakers.

Injuries
Lenard 05
Najera 05
Nene 06
Martin 06
Martin 07
Nene 07
Smith 07
Hunter 08
Nene 08
Atkins 08
Camby's injuries over the years, though has been ready for the playoffs

Look at this roster for the playoffs in 2006 - http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DEN/2006.html

In 07 Kleiza and JR Smith were completely off from what they were in the regular season. This year, Kleiza still didn't shoot the ball like he did in the regular season, 34 percent down to 21 percent from three. Not being too much of a shooter in general so far, anyway.

He lost to the world champs Spurs twice. He lost to the 1st seed in the West twice (Wolves and Lakers) and a lost to the Clippers. So the only one you can really fault Melo is the Clippers series.

Im sick of people blaming one player for first round exits. Yes sometimes the Star comes up short but Basketball is a team sport. I don't blame T-mac or Melo this year. People forget all about KG years of being sonned by Dirk in the playoffs when dallas wasn't even deep. Was that KG faults alone he didn't get past the first round?

He has just faced significantly better teams in the playoffs... People ragged on KG for the exact same reason. It is stupid in my opinion.

Yeah that Dallas team had Steve Nash, prime Michael Finley, and NVE... not deep at all...

He also avg 24/19/5... that series vs the Mavs...

Can't fault him there.

Clippers were a noticably better overall team, the Nuggets had numerous team problems, and the Clippers matched up well with the Nuggets with their ability on both sides of the court, inside-out offense. Good chemistry.

Remember, in that series, the Clippers just were all over Carmelo defensively. As a result of the lack of offensive help and continued below-average outside shooting on the team.

The Nuggets were the worst team in the playoffs... teams like the Grizz and CLippers were jocking to play them in the first round.

Please steve nash wasn't as good as he is today. NVE? dude is a choke artist going back to his LA days. KG failed to make the playoffs with Cassell Spreewell & Wally in the same year Kobe made it with Kwame Luke & Smush as starters.

Find a different team, 'cause he isn't gonna make the playoffs next year with the Thuggets.

I don't even think the Clippers were the better team. They played more like a team and had better team chemistry though.

That series our shooters - if you can call them that- went ice-frickin-cold and it pretty much allowed the Clippers to triple team Carmelo every time he got the ball. And when Carmelo wasn't tripled, they packed the lane.

Karl had no answer for that.

You want to discount his numbers?

So we want to discount the amount of talent Dirk's team has as well?

You want to ignore the team turmoil that KG faced after that season... much like Kobe when Shaq left.

If you want to say you hate KG... then say it.
