lol. If it doesn't win a title it's a failure. So it's a failure thus far. The window of opportunity is closing for the Suns. And they may have in fact closed the door on themselves by not getting KG last summer when they had the chance.

honestly though, they needed to move Marion, and this trade helped Amare a lot...was it the best deal that they could have gotten? maybe not, but I dont think it's as bad as some people make it out to be...

maybe the suns improved their team with this trade.

but it wasnt a success.

In their eyes it was a success.

This is coming from an organization that has yet to win a championship.

Minny wanted Amare. All you're doing is swapping out players who are relatively the same. Notice the improvement comes when you get a player to complement the mix (like Gasol to the Lakers), not subtract from it or be a lateral move.

your standards must be set high if you get a guy like shaq. when we picked him up, there was only one goal in mind. TAKE DOWN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

in that sense, phoenix failed in that endeavor. if that is NOT your goal, then you need to get fired!

so no, the shaq trade was not a success. why? shaq is not going to get better next year.

This guy is in denial. It wasn't just not a success, it was the worst failure I've ever seen. They got rid of Kurt Thomas (and two picks) just to clear out some cap space, and they go on and take on his monstrous contract? When Kurt Thomas could have given them toughness inside and rebounding without being completely inept from the line. At the cost of Marion, and $20 million more next year (plus another $20 M in luxury tax).

There was a Draft Day deal in place between ATL, Phoenix, and Minnesota.

ATL was sending the 3rd and 11th picks and expriings to minny. Minny was sending KG to Phoenix, and Phoenix was sending Amare to Atlanta. The Suns refused to deal Amare.

And then they ended up in the EXACT SAME situation as they could not defend Tim Duncan or play any semblance of low post D. The result of that was the desperation trade for Shaq.

KG changed the culture in Boston. There is no doubt in my mind he would have done the same thing for Phoenix. Not to mention he can run the floor and shoot the j (unlike Shaq) and Phoenix wouldn't have had to change much offensively.

that was actually cool seeing thomas come back and take his old team down.

and oh yeah, it was great seeing them eliminate themselves from the western conference scheme of things. they were a pain in the ass with all their trash talkin.

secondly, the blazers and hornets look to be really tough teams to battle with us for years to come.

You forgot the part where KG turned water into wine and curing cancer.

Look, nobody doubts KG brought a little more passion to the Celtics, but let's not underestimate how the rest of the cards fell for Boston. They aquired Ray Allen and brought on Tim Thibedeaux to work on the defense all the while Rajon Rondo made massive strides.

KG coming to Phoenix wouldn't change the fact that the team has severe defensive limitations and doesn't practice them enough to overcome them, especially with in-game recognition.

Are you saying that Amare and KG are the same? It would of been a lateral move?

KG is the defensive player of the year, Amare wouldn't even be considered for a 5th team defense if the NBA had one.

On top of that, KG is a LEADER, something Amare will never be.

KG's the better defensive player, but not nearly the dynamic game changing scorer Amare is. Albeit, Amare's leadership skills are quite lacking.

I disagree with you on this one. If you replace KG with Amare on your team I think it's a different story this year. You've got a guy that demands defensive hustle out of everyone and can run the floor and shoot the J (so no offensive overhaul like with Shaq). I think that in the Dantoni offense, KG could have become a better version of Amare.

Preached? Fine. He preached a little bit..........but the fundementals were taught to them by Thibideaux and I don't know how you can even begin to deny that. Let's not over-exaggerate KG's impact. There's a reason why that franchise is going to be hoisting a "NBA's Top Executive" award this year. Every move they made panned out.
