Deron William's crossover overated?

Post#1 » by War3player » Fri May 2, 2008 1:00 am

A lot of people talk about how good Deron's crossover is, but I don't think it's that good. To me every time he dribbles it looks like he is in slow motion. In my opinion the one thing he has going for him, and the reason he can get by so many people, is his quick first step. You just don't expect someone with a body like his to have such an explosive first step. Oh yeah and he is such a deadly shooter defenders have to be wary of that too which makes his first step that much quicker.

On a semi related note: how much of his body is fat and how much is muscle?

I don't hear people talk about it much, and he has a pretty good cross, so I'm gonna go with no.

No one really talks about his crossover so I don't think it's fair to call it "overrated".

Maybe a better title should have been "how good is Deron's crossover" then.

Deron Williams has a sick crossover, I don't know why you think it's overrated.

For his size it might be the best crossover in the league. When you have his build, and that kind of first step their aren't many PG's in the league who can stop you from getting into the league.

Considering this was a pretty general consensus about him pre draft
Speed is an issue as he

IDK why you guys say he broke someone's ankles... I never seen a cross over break someone's ankles before... Does both the ankles break? or only one? Shouldn't it be banned since its high risk and could end their careers...

his crossover does look like it's in slow motion, but it works so it's all good

It's great crossover because he does it so high the defender always thinks he can go get it but Deron's much quicker.

I don't know how it could really be overrated. It's really, really good and you generally don't hear much about it.

Not nearly as overrated as the rest of his game. He's still no Chris Paul.

A crossover doesn't have to be fast to be effective. In Deron's case he slows it down and lets the opponent react first.

Doesn't matter how it looks, it's effective. His ability to change direction and to stop and go is great as well.
