I remember at the start of the season when KG got traded etc alot of people said they wouldn't gel well in the playoffs and the combined loser mentality of KG, Allen and Pierce would come into play. Then the celts went and had an amazing season but now the playoffs are here - the real season- the Celtics are doing their best choke impression. Is this what alot of people expected? Will it finally put to bed any Duncan vs KG arguments?

Actually a lot of people said they wouldn't win 50 games.

I'm not sure though, if they win Sunday, this could be a blessing, or it could be horrible.

On one hand, it could be the wake up call they needed, and they could get there **** together.

Or, even if they win, it could be a horrible confidence killer, and they might get mauled later.

Only time will tell.

It might.

KG and TD are about equally talented but Duncan's game is better suited for the playoff's and KG's not so much.

I know the Hawks wouldn't have made it to 7 games vs the Spurs but what does that mean.....

It's already embarrassing enough to go 3-3 against an 8 seeded team. Maybe they're trying to gel in the playoffs being a new team and all?

Or bad coaching? It's definitely not the choke job that their stars are committing in Atl.

Well we know they'll win the next game for sure. Right?

They better hope so or else the next thread will be what was a bigger choke job in 2008 for Boston the Patriots or Celtics?

tim duncan has and always will be better than kevin garnett.

What I seem to recall is that people were saying let's wait and see how well this team does. They've played well, but they still have to win the championship or this was a failure.

They will probably win game 7, although I'll be rooting for the underdogs as usual.

What people failed to realise until now is that Doc Rivers is not a championship caliber coach, at least not yet, and I doubt he'll ever become one. It's one thing to create am adaptable team able to win a tough 7 game series against the same opponent with 3 stars and a bunch of semi-worthless (in pure bball skill) role players if your name is Greg Poppovich and another thing if it's Doc Rivers.

Do not underestimate a coach's contribution to his team. I the reg season, guys just go in, do their thing, and if they're better, the win in mst cases. Come playoff time, when you face the same opposition every 2-3 days, it's not only a matter of skill, but a matter of game planning, adaptation and mental poise, all coming from the coaching staff. And Rivers seems not up to this daunting task. Celts need a playoff coach.

I said all year they would have a good regular season and choke in the playoffs. Thats what happens when your best 3 players are proven playoff underachievers.

I have not been proven right yet, but I think I will soon.

That would mean they lost in the playoffs when they should have won. I can't remember them being favored all that much.

I dont know if i wouuld say the doubters are right but the celtics are currently making a huge case for them. Is it just me or did it seem like the Celts did not know where they wanted the basketball to go in the last crucial possessions?

Anyway, if the Celtics advance (which they should, lol if they dont), they would have overcome their worst matchup this playoff. The Hawks have too many track stars and jumping jacks. However, I expect them to get their ass handed to them if they meet the spurs/lakers in the finals.(Hyper LOL at Ray allen trying to guard playoff Kobe/Manu)

IMO, there was never any real comparison between TD and KG, Duncan has already achieved way too much and there's no doubt in my mind that TD would have demanded the ball and forced some double teams during most of those crunch-time possessions. He never ever disappears when his team needs him.

I never put too much value into the regular season.....after all, SAS was the last team to win the ship whilst having the best record, and we've seen the 62 win Pacers lose in ECF, 64 win Pistons in ECF and 67 win Mavs in Rnd 1.

Energy & effort can win you 66 in the reg season....but it's much tougher when the opposing team in the playoffs matches that effort and has superior athleticism. Weaknesses are quickly exposed!

Still, it's not too late for Boston, but right now they look a notch below Spurs & Lakers.

the KG-TD is pretty much over when you look at clutch time. Tim Duncan would have gotten the ball and actually took shots when his team needed him to be dominant. Obviously he doesnt always make em and sometimes the Spurs lose and that's fine, but the point is, Duncan, as the star, as the big post presence, tries to will his team to victory. Thats what dominant players do.

Garnett is a glorified small forward. Duncan is the 1st or 2nd greatest power forward of all time. There never should have been a comparison. It's not fair to insult TD like that.

The C's are fools gold. That's what playing in the east can do for you.

I am as much as a Celtics doubter as anyone else, but they did have a great record against the West, including the SW division which they almost swept

Ray Allen is even more past his primen then i thought he would be. If the Celtics don't win it all this year ( and it sure doesn't look like it ) they never will . Allen will become a major liability even more then he is/was this year.

Allen hasn't really been that good this season....don't think he's fit in that well as the 3rd guy. Kind of goes AWOL for stretches. Still, he's hit some big shots this season.

Imagine if the hawks win, the amount of cash you would get if you bet on them. Anyone remember the odds?

I don't remember anybody saying those things. The criticisms I remember were:

They're too old, they'll all get injured.

They won't be able to share the ball.

They'll get run all over in the regular season but they'll be deadly in the playoffs.

And no doubters are right about anything yet, they have to win one game on their home court to advance. Atlanta has young talented athletic guys up and down the lineup, the only thing that team ever lacked was a point guard experience to put it all together. They were actually a pretty strong team in the second half of the season, give them the credit for putting up a fight.
