Where would the Hawks be with Paul or Williams?

Fair to say they would've atleast been a 45 win team this year?

Josh Smith would be a 20/10 guy if CP3 can make Chandler a double double guy..

I know this has been talked about before but given what you know now how big of a difference would they make?

Very difficult to say and Horford's probably not a Hawk. It's time for everyone to move on and stop mentioning this. It gets very old and it's pointless. The Hawks would be a different team player wise and right now Al Horford's a fan favorite.

Even without Chris Paul, Josh Smith could possibly be a 20/10 player, but he's still learning, and he's barely over 20 years old.

They would have had a better record than the eighth seed that's for sure.

It doesn't work like that with SFs. Alley woops work with chandler because when he pick and rolls, the center who guards the paint is occupied with stopping paul or too slow to recover to chandler because tyson is quick. Hornets are perfectly built team. But nonetheless, Hawks would kill much harder with cp3 is running the break. I can see them being very good fast paced team.

These threads dont usually make a whole lot of sense, you have no idea how the players would've developed on other teams. Although I do think Paul would be around the same, Deron probably would've had a better 1st year had he been on another team and gave a paul a run for his money at ROY. And who knows if the Hawks had one of these guys hat may have stunted Smiths growth, you just dont know how it would work, its not a video game where you can just trade for all the great guys and have it mesh with no problems.

Agreed, I'm sick of talking about it. That draft has me hating on Marvin every chance I get even though he's still only 21 and has constantly gotten better, but I still see him as "the guy we took ahead of Paul and Deron". Marvin is a very promising young player and has a bright future, but he'll always have that label unless he becomes elite.

Like was mentioned above, people need to stop talking about this. The team aquired Al Horford through the draft which most likely wouldn't have happened had they got Paul or Williams. Horford is also a big reason why the Hawks are playing so well right now.

Add to that the fact that the Hawks got Mike Bibby who is allowing Joe Johnson to be freed up and it makes the team better. Would Paul or Williams be great pick up's? Of course. I cant really say that Atl should be disapointed with their moves though.

Where would the Heat be if they hadn't traded for Shaq? Where would the Pistons be if they had taken Carmelo? I'll tell you, neither of these teams would have won a championship.

The hawks only won 37 games. This core is still nowhere near championship level. They had a chance to have a top 5 player in the league for a decade and passed it up for Marvin Williams. The hawks should be disappointed.

The Hawks have the brightest young core in the entire Eastern Conference. 2nd to the Blazers in the NBA.

You should get a clue.

And unless Chris Paul or Deron Williams hoist up a Larry O'Brien trophy before Marvin Williams, I could give a rat's ass what type of numbers they put up

With the exception of the pistons no team in the last 28 years has won a championship team without a top 3 player in the league, and none has done without a top 15 player.

Who on your roster has that potential?

I'd say the Cavs (LeBron), Hornets (Paul) and Magic (Howard) have better young cores than the Hawks (Smith, Horford, Marvin Williams). I'm drawing the line at born in 1985, so no Childress or Joe Johnson, although LeBron's born on Dec 30, 1984.

Would the OP's team have taken 12 years to get to the second round in the Playoffs if they had made better use of the 10 lotto picks and blockbuster trades they've been involved in.

Hmm Paul could learn a lot about being gangster backing up Mike Bibby.

can we make these lame topics an auto lock? Also the only people who should be dissapointed that they didnt take cp3/d-will are the celtics because they wouldn't have to vs the hawks in the 1st round (would have better record) and lose...
