Was listening to ESPN radio today and the host (Can't remember name) said that even if the Cs win today (they did, as all know) they have already choked.
His point was it was a 66 win team, which still would have probably gotten the number 1 seed even if they played in the West, going 7 gms against a 37 win team that really has no business in the playoffs..
I happen to agree with him,,

considering that they were 0-2 in away games in which they had healthy leads in the 4th quarter. i agree with him. how would they handle a series with a focused detroit team.
god the east sucks.

So if they win the title they still chocked? Saying that they choked in a specific game...maybe. But saying that they choked in the playoffs is stupid since they are still in the playoffs and could very well meet their expectations.

They underperformed. They didn't choke. They came through when they needed to so far. It can only be a choke if they actually lose.

I would be worried about the Celtics ability to finish a game in the 4th quarter....

Cavs have a good chance of upsetting the Celts.

It's basically a slap in the face to the Hawks.
Most casual observers and talking heads don't have the greatest of basketball knowledge.
Anyone who has done a little research would know that the Atlanta Hawks had one of the best home records in the entire NBA this year.
Feeding off of a crowd that was electric since the team made the playoffs for the first time this century, it's no surprise how well they have played.
It's not exposing Boston or the Eastern conference.
If you see the teams the Hawks have beaten or competed against this season in that building you would have a clue.
If you noticed how the Hawks made Boston look unathletic with their roster but how Boston makes Cleveland look unathletic with theirs, you would have a clue.
But of course none of those things are bought to the forefront because we are taught Hawks are forever a joke and Boston is Boston, the team with prestige and best record.
No need to go into any important details that might tell a different story

I definetely don't agree. The Celts are still my pick for the ring this year.

They've struggled in the 4th quarter many games this year so that is a concern, but they have looked very good at home this series. They won't be playing anymore athletic teams, so I feel they should be one of the favorites, if not the favorite, to win it all. Looking forward to the Cavs series.

If anything, it just shows that the East is better than people give it credit for. The fact that the Sixers and Hawks won a few games against the Pistons and Celtics--the teams with the best records during the regular season--shows that the teams who snuck into the East truly belong there. In fact, it looked like the Nuggets are the ones who shouldn't belong in the playoffs. And can anyone picture a Warriors team even beating the Pistons or Celtics once? If anything, these playoffs prove that the East is better than people thought.

Still can't see anyone in the East beating them at home, so that first seed is going to carry them to the finals.

Agreed. How can you look at how the Pistons and Celtics did against the West and then come to the conclusion that the Hawks and Sixers extending those teams means the East sucks? It means the Sixers and Hawks are up-and-coming teams.

you can't choke if you win. simple as that. plus, i believe the Hawks are a better team than their record indicates and i think they are actually better than the Nuggets because they a) play defense and b) play with heart.

Celtics struggled, but they would have had to lose to officially "Choke".
Sixers and Hawks played much better the second half of the year and both are stronger than their record indicates.
When comparing the East and the West, the big problem is the bottom half of the East really sucks. Boston and Detroit certainly held their own against the West. I guess that will get decided in the Finals.

They didn't choke, they just aren't as legit as everyone was saying. They're not the leading contender for the title IMO. Not after that series.

While it is a reasonable point to argue that the celtics choke. You have to take into account that the hawks are actually a better than 37 win team. I mean if you think about the home game attendance being terrible for the hawks until the playoffs. If you ask me this was their first few home games of the season.

So the team that win their series in the first round with the least amount of losses are the best team? I think that is pretty much jumping to conclusions. Basically the answer to this thread is that this series really doesn't tell us anything about how they'll play against Cleveland or any other team they end up playing. Lebron worries me, but overall I think the matchup is easier for them to handle.
