Didn't Gil already say he was gonna opt out?

Opt out of his contract yea, doesn't mean he wants to leave. It just means he wants more money.

Then I guess the Wizards are rebuilding. Jamison is most likely going to sign an MLE contract with a contender in the offseason or ask for a sign and trade.

S&T both players for the most you can get for them. They both could be valuable to a team now and could bring in good pieces for the Wizards. Trade both of them for a solid player, ending contract plus draft pick's. Possibly 2 picks for Agent Zero. Build around Butler and picks and free agency.

Evidence? This is crazy.

They should both go to Boston, start Arenas over Rondo and slide KG to center.

If I were Washington, I'd sign and trade Gilbert's ass. No player should ever put their team in a position like this. You're paid to play, not to build a contending team yourself (especially a player with Gilbert's mindset). So now Washington can either remain in mediocrity by having to keep the same team as before, or they have to go into all out rebuilding by losing two stars, all while not having a lottery pick for this year.

Go to hell Gilbert

Bingo! Arenas is a bunch of hot air. The Wizards are stuck in mediocrity and aren't really serious about building a championship team. If they were they would trade Gilbert & Jamison and build around Butler. Move up in the draft and get a PG from somewhere. Heck maybe even bring AI into DC just to mix things up a little. Take a risk, get Shaun Livingston & Cory Maggette. Anything except continuing with the same squad.

You can't keep taking the same approach expecting different results.

i would actually rather not keep both, and the reason being that you really cant build a legitimate contender with those 2 players as part of your core.

caron butler is a fine two way player, but the other two (arenas and jamison) are imo guys who put up more impact on the stat sheets than on actual winning and team success. but hey, this is just my opinion.

Gilbert for Kwame.

The way Arenas looked in the playoffs when he played, he might not even get offered a big contract from a opposing team. So he might have no choice but to stay in Washington.

If im a GM, the most i offer Gilbert is 5 million if im the GM from another team.

Dude looked extremely slow when he came back and still has not got over his knee injury.

Gilbert is acting like his stock his high right now when its not.

As if winning is his primary motive; is he going anywhere but to the highest bidder? Hell no!

Gilbert is a self-promoting egomaniac who talks the talk but can't back it up

I think it's safe to say Antawn isn't going to sign for MLE money unless the Spurs pursue him. Even then, it's a stretch..

Look for him get a 4-year deal that averages around $9M..

I'm sorry, but I hit the "ignore" button on Gilbert Arenas a long time ago.

Nonetheless, I do question how an athlete with a chronic knee problem expects to sign a long-term deal at a more lucrative rate per season than what he'll be paid next campaign. The Wizards would be as crazy as the man himself to extend the contract before he's back to 100%. Even then he's a risk.

Arenas is pretty hilarous at times. But honestly, it is increasingly hard to take him seriously.

(But he always will be welcome in Boston if he wants to come to a REAL contender as a MLE player)
