With his renowned 'athletic heart of an assassin' and his interest in motorcycle racing proving that he still enjoys an adrenaline rush, what better adrenaline rush is there than being an NBA coach? I can definitely see Michael Jordan being a Bobby Knight-style coach. He just doesn't seem like the retiring type.

he'll just get pissed when his players are under-achieving because he goes by his crazy high standards of performance and intensity.

No one would let him coach unless they were desperate for money (from the increased value of the franchise). Bobby Knight may get firery at times but he's still an excellent X's and O's guy while Jordan simply is not. The game came to easily to him. If you ever watch his instructional videos you'll see how hard it is for him to break down the game into digestible bits of information.

From dissecting his interviews (Tony Robbins style) you can tell that he doesn't have the right mindset. I also doubt he'd be very good at making adjustments because he was never good at that as a player.

You ever wonder why Tex and Phil wanted Scottie Pippen to be an assistiant coach and not Jordan?

MJ is also more of a mogul. He'd rather run and own the show (Pres, VP, or GM) than be part of middle management (coach, assistant coach).

maybe he'll try it for a season or two, and then fire himself cuz his player s has shut him out. he can be the biggest competitor in the whole world.

He'd probably get really pissed and just yell "WHY DO YOU SUCK SO MUCH" during a timeout lol

MJ should coach....I can't get enough of Isaiah Thomas' antics. MJ has already failed as a GM so the next step is to fail at coaching.

Jordan is the best X and Os player in NBA history, I think he would tactically be a brilliant coach, maybe even the best coach. His basketball IQ was greater than Larry Bird's. The only question is, does Jordan think coaching is important enough for him to invest the time into it? He may be enjoying semi-retirement too much.

MJ has already tried coaching. -- When he was player-coach on the Wizards.

Doug Collins did all the X and Os work for Washington actually.

Might as well if he truly wants to compete with Isiah.

I've never heard his name linked to coaching. How exactly is he "resisting" it?

If Jordan got a deal like Wilt got where he could miss practices to go get laid and gamble, then yes, he might coach. As it is though, there's no chance. Back to backs don't leave much time for day trips to Vegas.

Just because he was a great player doesn't mean he would be a great coach.

Just like a great scientist doesn't always make a great college professor. Or Rambo would make a great drill sergeant.

Will he demand $35 million again, or would his demands be much lower? Honestly, I think his management career has been terrible, so I wouldn't be surprised if no team wanted him as coach.

No team would unless that team is failing financially and need a draw.

I think it won't be in his personality to coach. He definitely understands small nuances of the game, however, I doubt over time he would put in enough effort. When you're a coach, you have to travel with the team, watch game film, attend practices, etc. I just don't see him wanting to do all of that when he can caribbean or vegas, and just play golf, race motorcycles and exotic cars. He's said in interviews he only spends two days a week in the office to "run" his company, I believe that would be all the time he'd want to spend coaching.

Jordans would never succeed as a coach for the same reason Magic Johnson didn't. They expect their players to work as hard as they did and it just doesn't happen.
