Let's say one day you're strolling along and all of a sudden a man threatens you at gunpoint. He says that you must make a basketball team that will win one game in order to save your life. His rules are:

-12 man roster
-No Jordan or Chamberlain.
-A minimum of 7 active players on your roster.
-No players playing out of position.

What would your team be?

I am assuming any player picked is playing in their prime, so:

C: Kareem Abdul Jabbar - Shaquille O

by SmoothKobra
PG Chris Paul
SG Kobe Bryant
SF LeBron James
PF Tim Duncan
C Dwight Howard

Bench
Steve Nash
Joe Johnson
Kevin Garnett

Or wait, does it have to be current players or is it players from any era

by TruSkool
pg-magic johnson
sg-kobe bryant
sf-glen rice
pf-pau gasol
c-shaquille oneal

by Magz50
PG: Isaiah Thomas/ Anthony Peeler
SG Ime Udoka/ Sprewell
SF Bruce Bowen/ Ron Artest
PF Charles Oakley/ Dennis Rodman/ Anthony Mason
C: Shaq/ Moses Malone/ Ben Wallace

Then i'd send them over to the guys house to kill him first.

If my life depended on one game...
I'd want players who are superb defensively and offensively.

PG - Frazier
SG - West
SF - Havlicek
PF - Duncan
C - Hakeem

I can't believe I'm leaving out Bird, Russell, Magic, Kareem, Oscar...

Oh okay, phew.

PG - Frazier, Magic
SG - West, Oscar
SF - Havlicek, Bird, Erving
PF - Duncan
C - Hakeem, Russell, Kareem, Shaq

I don't even care if Kareem or Shaq only get a few minutes...As long as the other team doesn't have them and I have that squad, I win. What would be the best of the rest, going with the same emphasis on two-way play for starters?

PG - Stockton, Payton
SG - Kobe
SF - Pippen, Baylor, Barry
PF - Garnett, Malone, Pettit, Barkley
C - Robinson, Moses

last was tough SG Jerry West/SF Scottie Pippen/PG Gary Payton/or PF Dennis Rodman

You guys would use old players? LOL. You don't know how well they can play in the modern era and you don't even know if they know the rules of today.

For me, it's this year's NBA 1st team.
CPaul
Kobe
Lebron
KG
Dwight

Cool, well I'm going to use future players then, players even more advanced than today's stars. Or maybe I'll just use a bunch of psychopath ex-cons who'd "persuade" the opponents to forfeit.

Perhaps the OP meant that you have a play a modern NBA team.

If you use old players, even if they were superstars, you really don't know how well their game translates.

Okay, so if it's limited to today...

PG - Kidd, Billups, Paul (sorry Nash and Deron)
SG - Kobe, Ginobili
SF - LeBron, Battier
PF - Garnett, Nowitzki, Rasheed
C - Duncan, Howard

PG - Magic Johnson, Chris Paul
SG - Kobe Bryant, Manu Ginobli
SF - Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, Jason Kapono
PF - Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace
C - Hakeem Olajuwan, Shaquille O'Neal

Sorry Kobe, but Larry's the guy who takes the last shot if my life depends on it.

C Russell
PF Duncan
SF Bird
SG West
PG Magic
6 Havlicek

Then fill it out with 6 more random active players. Probably Shaq, Kobe, KG, Paul, LeBron, and one more.
