I was curious what people's opinion on the Turiaf's Flagrant 2 on Ronnie Price in game 4. Do you think he will or should be suspended for Game 5?

Here is a replay of the foul:

I for one think it could go either way and I can see the argument for it either way. If he's gets a one game suspension, great....it defenitely wont hurt the Jazz....if he doesnt, I wont be upset about it.

I disagree Turiaf dropped his tree trunk arm down with authority. He already had bumped Price with his body far anough off course that the arm was unneccesary. Since the whistle had blow he could have stopped himself from slamming down his arm so I beleieve it was without question intentional.

It's not that unreasonable, the NBA has suspended players for less. A reporter after the game asked Phil Jackson if he thought Turiaf would be suspended (to which of course PJ said no).

I personally do not think this flagrant foul warrants a suspension, and I would be surprised but not shocked if the NBA hands out a 1 game suspension.

I do think that the ejection was warranted Price was a defenseless player in mid air and got leveled. The fact that Price is so small and Turiaf is a giant monster didn't help Turiaf's case. Yes he probably could have fouled Boozer or Millsap that hard and not got ejected, but that's just the way it goes.

no suspension and if he doe im not so sure that helps the jazz anyway, give the lakers another reason to play well. I still think that Turiaf only got thrown out because Price got busted open from the hit even though the floor caused the cut.

Price went up after the foul and put himself in a vunerable spot. IMO it was a hard foul to prevent continuation. While it wasn't likely there was going to be continuation, you never know with Refs nowadays.

shouldn't have been ejected, Flagrant 1 at the most.

It should have only been a flagrant 1, so no.

The Ejection was warranted since he hit him in midair after the whistle, no suspension since it wasn't malicious and he didn't go for Price's head.

Yeah, but you never know about continuation. I've seen refs give and ones worse than that one.

Players are taught, someone goes up...stop the layup. Turiaf went across the arms...Price did not balance himself well.

 at KobeisKing24's avatar.

In regards to the foul, I personally don't think Turiaf here should be suspended. Then again, as it has been brought up already by others in this thread, players have been suspended for less.

Yes it was excessive for Turiaf to continue to go for the play even after the whistle was blown. It's like on of those plays where the offensive player keeps going even after the whistle is blown hoping to get a continuation call (but not always does). The amount of contact was more than necessary, though I guess the fall and the fact Price needed stitches afterwards made things worse. Was what Turiaf was doing with his arm intentional? Yes, but IMHO he was trying to commit a good foul to make sure Price had no chance to make the basket, in case continuation was called. I personally think Turiaf was going at the ball, albeit a very clumsy and poor attempt.

If Ronnie Price didn't headbutt the hardwood Turiaf would have just been called for a regular foul. An ejection was unwarranted and so would a suspension.

+1

a) Don't go recklessly at the rim after the whistle has been blown
b) Balance yourself when you go up
c) Learn how to fall

It's not like he had to stop continuation the way he did ...

He still could have blocked the ball once it had been released and don't try to knock it of a guy flying in mid air.

There was a bit more contact than was needed, but he was going for the foul....not the block.

If Price lands normally, I doubt it's even a flagrant.

I'm not really sure why he got thrown out of the game. It was one of those plays where just because a smaller player was going up against a much larger / stronger one the hit looked worse than it really was.
