Stern: Turn it Down!

Wel, not exactly his words, but he's onto something.

Stern went on a rant Monday night prior to Game 4 of the Celtics-Cavaliers series when asked if the trend toward loud, fiery in-arena entertainment gimmicks had gotten out of hand.

"I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I think they're ridiculous. I think the noise, the fire, the smoke is a kind of assault that we should seriously consider reviewing in whether it's really necessary given the quality of our game," Stern said.

It's only a matter of time before those pyrotechnics injure or kill someone. Just ask Metallica or Great White about it.

I think Stern has better things to gripe about.

There needs to be a ring of fire between every quarter.

How can any of you watch a Boston home game and NOT agree with Stern?

I haven't had a chance to watch any of the Cavs/Celts series, but during the Boston - Atlanta games, the Arena was smoky the whole first quarter. I felt like I was watching old time footage from the 70s.

Stern talks way too much. I don't think any other commissioner of the major sporting leagues feels the need to get themselves media attention as often as Stern does.

I've always agreed about this. I don't think all that necessary hoopla is needed before a game. I'd give 20 bucks if I could punch that announcer from Detroit in the face. He's probably the most annoying announcer in the league.

I love the part about the "quality" of the NBA game.

What an A-hole.

Can you say red herring?

It's stupid to use virtual noise levels in arenas. Can't teams find better ways to cheat?

KI understand wanting to get your fans into the game early but as much as I hate to agree with Stern it is getting out of hand.

He sucks, but the Hornets guy is worse. He constantly does this "woooooo" thing and gets the whole crowd to do it to. its SO lame, i hope the crowd just stops doing it because its (Please Use More Appropriate Word). "go defense WOOOOOO" "wooo!" "WOOO!"

He's pretty annoying, but I'd say the guy in San Antonio is worse.
