David Robinson is my al time favourite

And I love that David West looks up to him.

Ha!

Okay, skills, talent.. every physical attribute wise... David Robinson > Duncan.

Mental toughness... Duncan has the edge.

Put a healthy David Robinson in the current spurs roster instead of Duncan, I dont see how they fall off... in fact they'll be better athletically....

More like underrated! He gets no love from most fans. He was a very good fundamentally sound center and a great citizen.

You'd think they'd put their best defender on the biggest threat, specially as they play the same position, technically...

How so?

And bare in mind that Robinson's biggest weakness and achilles heel was that he had mental toughness issues come playoff time.

Apart from that well known information.

Would you elaborate on how David Robinson's talent, skills and overall game throughout his career IS overated.

In his pre-injury days he is good for 24~26 points a game, 11~13 rebounds, 3~4 blocks, 1.5~2 steals.... Hakeem and David are well regarded as 2 of the most well skilled big men of all time. Triple doubles, quadruple doubles.... Robinson dominates in the offensive end and also dominates in the defensive end... and quote Kareem Abdul Jabbar.... David Robinson would be the greatest big man of all time if he had a jump hook....

And post-injury... when he was basically hampered by his back.. his BACK... which would basically put many people redundant from sports... Robinson still managed to be one of the league's best defenders...

Again, when it came to matchup with Hakeem, Hakeem beat him because.. quiet simply Hakeem had post arsenal to do so.... and many team mates admitted to experience Robinson doubt himself when it came down to big playoff games.

In today's league I think even with that issue of mental toughness.... assuming David Robinson had a co-captain like a Ginobili or a Parker... the Spurs would even be better. No longer issues with speed, athletism...

Duncan is great but in his waning years, Robinson still managed to be as effective as Duncan entering the league. If anythng, Duncan can only be regarded as "better" because the Spurs didnt win their first ring until Duncan came... but Robinson was still a HUGE part of that 2 championship run.

Quite the opposite. David Robinson is one of the most underrated players in NBA history.

 so true, his stats were amazing, and his impact for spurs was so huge!
Since the first day he came to spurs, spurs became a great team from a mediocre team. just check spurs record with him! it's amazing! Jordan needs pippen and all the great role player to win, without jordan, bulls still won 55 games, without David robinson, spurs went 22-60 (the year when he was injured).

No he said the right politically correct things, it was his voice and dumbfounded expressions that hurt my eyes and ears.

I thought this was in reference to Delonte West when I first saw the thread. I'd have to say Robinson was underrated, but he did play with Duncan whom I think was better so it's understandable. Duncan has received more attention and rightfully so.

David West keeps playing the way he is, it will only improve Michael Beasley's draft stock, since they both play a similar game come draft day.
