Was Rashard Lewis worth it?

After 1 season, and the progress the Magic have made, was the signing of Rashard Lewis worth it and really instrumental in their success this past season?
Or should the Magic's success be credited to the coaching of Stan Van Gundy and/or the improvement of Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkgolu?

It's not going to be worth it unless we win a chip, that said this is going to bring out a lot of trolls, idiots, etc. I like him on our team though, and nobody expected playoffs for us yet alone 2nd round so I'll take it.

Huh?
After making the post-season last season, and only expecting to fare better the following season. The addition of Rashard Lewis and SVG wasn't supposed to bring expecations of better post-season success, let alone just making it?
Not sure where you came up with that sentiment......

Definitely not worth, max. And the success was mostly because of Dwight becoming a beast, and Hedo improving drastically. His numbers were lower than last year as well.
I don't think he was worth that contract.

No. Because the Magic are now stuck in cap hell, and they won't be able to spend more than the MLE to fill out the roster. If they're satisfied with the result of such an atrocious contract, I hope they're happy losing in the second round every year. Because that's exactly where they're gonna stay. They are going to waste the career of one of the greatest centers to ever play.

lol.. No, of course not..He was their 3rd most valuable player throughout the season...
I'll take a player like Prince, who is a winner, plays both ends, and comes at half the price..

Was he a great pick up as far as talent? Yes.
Did he earn his monster salary? no.

Um.... Exactly who didn't expect you to make the playoffs? Considering you added arguably one of the top FA during the off-season? Is that just a way to justify the signing of Lewis?

Rashards signing improved the Magic since they added more talent to the roster, but his signing will prevent the Magic from signing more talent in the future.

Read the prediction thread a month before the season started, very few people had us in because all they saw was Howard/Lewis.. No Hill, No Dark, crappy Hedo etc. If they did it was 7/8 seed.

This thread is dumb. No one thought Shards would make Orlando a title team this year, he was brought in to pair with Dwight, Jameer, and Turk and all are under 30. This team is built to win over the next 5 years or so. Only then can we answer this question.

Very few people on this board predicted the Magic would do well this season

This is true...but still, it's perfectly acceptable to wonder whether it was, or ever will be, worth paying Kevin Garnett-level money to add a guy who on the court is closer to Al Harrington.

That's besides the point.
NBA.com on their pre-season survey had Orlando as one of the team possibly being able to win the Eastern Conference.
So, I'm not sure how you're justifying your earlier statement.....

Where? I seen a couple #3 seeds because the Heat had Wade injured.. but most I saw were again.. in the 6-8 range.
A lot of posters rag on Lewis like it hurts us, and really it doesn't. I think if we upgrade the bench, and everybody keeps on improving (especially Dwight) we can make the finals. In the 3 games vs Detroit we were leading/tied going into the 4th and choked.. we're still a young team chemistry wise. Detroit's been there 5 times. Again though, the contract will NEVER be worth it unless theres a chip hes holding up

42% of the people surveyed said they were a playoff team.
Your point?

orlando is in a very bad situation financially.
rashard is a good player, but not worth 20mil.

Everything relies on Dwight Howard and the role players. It's not like Rashard Lewis is going to bring a championship to Orlando by himself. I do feel he's not worth a max, but Orlando needed someone to take them past the first round, and Rashard Lewis helped do that. Now, the team just needs to focus on finding serviceable players that can provide the team with some solid depth.
Guys like Josh Childress and James Posey would be perfect.

Financially speaking, they are only a select few in this league who deserve the money they are getting, especially those ones with the massive contracts. And, I'm sure all of them can be counted on 2 hands.....
