back in the day even if u were a 9th or 10th man u had to have some ability to shoot or putt he ball in the basket

in todays game theres too many "defensive specialists" who cant hit layups and are there just to hustle

in todays game with so many teams and the cap where u can only have one or at most two starstheres too many of these players who have no ability to score that u can just double the teams star and leave the guy wide open because u know he cant hurt you..

Because coaches don't know how to use their role players effectively or put them in a position to succeed. Teams that do are always the good ones. Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Hornets, Pistons, Warriors.

Expansion and the increased flux of high schoolers who are drafted for potential rather than their ability to contribute immediately to a team.

No, it's because almost all today's GM are homos.
They only like freaks with great bodys, great muscles, great athletism... They don't care about talent anymore.

That's true as well. Many players today are drafted on potential other than actual skill.

yeah how many players are in the nba because theyre tall long and athletic with no real basketball skill i.e. stromile swift

I also think there are a lot of players who think they are superstars therefore they don't take the time to learn certain roles. Everybody wants to be primero uno.

average above athleticism, great strength, good instincts. He lacks ideal height and an offensive skillset, he has to have some physical talent to be in the league.

i believe that everyone should stay in college for 3 years and that would improve the standard of the NBA tenfold.

I think the definition of role players has changed slightly as well.

i think the salary cap these days has something to do with it as well. role players dont get paid.
