He said it just now on tnt
He was upset over what happened, and said it was "100% my fault"
he owned up and said he'll do his best not to gamble again
good stuff, i know a lot of people make fun of him and stuff for what he says and goofiness, but he seems at the end like a good dude with character

He gambled; he lost his money and he responsible for what he has done.
There's no such negativity we can say about him. Gamble or not again is up to him and again he doesn't need to report to media.

What'd he do? What was the gamble that made him decide he had to quit?
I remember him talking about how much money he loses gambling but saying it wasn't a problem because he was under control.

Basically some casino said they were gonna file felony charges against him for not paying back 400,000 dollars to them. Then people started thinking maybe he doesnt have any money left (thats why in the interview he stressed hes very good financially) and that caused a lot of embarrassment.

He doesn't have much of a filter when he talks so he says the dumbest stuff on air sometimes so he can be annoying but I commend him for owning up to his gambling problem though.

I hope he can pull it off, but Barkley is man who has never demonstrated any self-discipline. In his career he was routinely out of shape, and always had impulse control problems. Its very hard to change who you are at 45, but I hope he can do it.

In follow up comments to the press after the TV piece Barkley said"I'm never going to gamble again and I'll wager $1000 with anyone that they won't see me gamble on anything for the rest of my life"

Wish Barkley luck considering he doesn't seem to be very lucky gambling but
gambling can be an addiction and sports personalities can sometimes have addictive personalities and their is also the "rush/excitement" aspect of gambling that can be a replacement (poor one perhaps) of their professional career that they might be missing. Combine that with an absurd amount of cash flow & you have potential dynamite.
Isn't he buddies with Michael Jordan ? I though MJ and Charles Oakley post NBA careers (and during actually too) were hardcore gamblers. Now that MJ is management in the NBA I just assume he had to forgo this hobby or be sneaky/covert about it ("hey Chuck, place some bets for me..." * cough *).

The best part was when EJ asked him who Charles had in Game 7 at the end of the interview. Charles went on to explain his reasoning for the Hornets, and EJ said "Wanna bet?"

If you don't wager money but bet that if a tall Chinese dude scores 20 points you'll kiss your co-host's ass, is that still gambling?
