2008 Playoffs Legendary Performances

Post#1 » by JusBus32 » Thu May 22, 2008 6:46 pm

I was wondering what you guys think are the best performances so far in the playoffs.

It's not so much about stats as much as plays that defined the game or the series.

For example,

Duncan's performance in Game 1 against the Suns, while may not have been his best, he did something that changed the complexion of the series. It could go down as legendary.

LeBron's huge dunk against the Celts in Game 6 could be seen as legendary as well.

Kobe's performance in Game 1 against the Spurs can also be here since he took the game over in the middle of the third and didn't stop until the game was over.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

pierce game 7
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Nothing has been "legendary" this post-season, but Pierce's Game 7 is easily the tops though.

Pierce played amazing in that game. He couldn't miss from outside and LeBron's defense seemed to have zero affect on his shots.

Kobe in Game 2 vs. Denver was amazing as well.

Lebron and Pierce's game 7 performances. Kobe's Nuggets game 2 and Spurs game 1. Chris Paul's game 1 vs Mavs.

I don't think kobe's game 2 against the nuggets should be listed, even though I know he scored a ton. The lakers were already up by more than 10 when he scored his last 15 and the game seemed locked at that point anyway. I actually preferred his performance yesterday of getting 20 some points in a half against a better team and in a close game. lebron vs. pierce though is the most memorable performance so far though

Kobe's exploits should be mentioned considering he's playing with a dislocated/torn ligament in his shooting finger.

^^Lol, it was the single most productive performance by any player in these entire Playoffs. I'm pretty sure it can be listed.

The others were already mentioned. Pierce vs. James was wonderful.

I also iked Kobe's Game 6 against Utah. And LeBron's monster game in Washington while dealing with the overrated chants; Gasol's Game 1 against Denver; DWest's domination of the Spurs; Parker's outburst against the Suns and some others too, but those really stood out in my opinion.

cheers

edit: the ^^ part directed toward backtothebball

Tim Duncan's 40, 15 in the first game was pretty amazing

gotta be kobe in game 1 vs the spurs... once he started heating up u could sense something big was gonna happen, and coming back down 20 that late to the champs is kind of a big deal

Let's play a game of "what doesn't belong."

Anyway, the above games are definitely up there, along with Kobe's 48/10 game vs. Denver, Pierce/Lebron's game 7, and Tony Parker's 45/13 game or whatever it was vs. Phoenix. CP3 had some big games also.

I doubt anything so far is ever considered "legendary". Maybe the Bron Peirce duel like the Nique Bird one.

Other then that there have just been too many games over the years that people scored alot or came back from big deficits that just aren't even memorable.

I think in game 2 against the nuggets he had around 33 going in with 5 minutes left up by about 12, last night his team was down by 20 some and he almost didnt miss a shot the rest of the game, and he finished the spurs off at the end as well. duncan made a shot to take the lead and kobe brought it back to the lakers. to me, scoring 25 in a half last night was a much cooler performance and the 49 against denver isnt a top 5 so far for the playoffs considering most of it happened after the game was basically over

There were some great performances but nothing legendary so far.
