Should Pistons fire Saunders if they fall against Boston?

Right now he's in the hot seat, and he may be critized for not carryin the pistons to nba finals in 3 seasons

Should the pistons give him another chance, or they have to dismiss him?

They should fire him regardless, because like Boston, if they win, it's in spite of having a bad coach, not because of what he has done...

Flip is pretty inept.

That's pretty much it.

His offensive philosophy sucks, it's all reaction on what the other team's defense gives you. Pussy Offense.

I don't know. They should win against Boston, but if they don't, I blame it more on the injury to Billups and now Rip. Also, Sheed has not really stepped up to fill that allstar caliber role that we all know he is capable of. He has relied on his outside shot.

I do not really see a serious problem with Flip, but he has certainly underachieved with this team at this juncture.

I heard around this board that Michael Curry might be in line to takeover? He's always been great with players, but I'm not sure how good his offensive coaching would be, given that he was primarily known for his defense.

(See sig)

Why should he get another chance?

With this group and the conference in the state its been in the last few years, we SHOULD have reached the finals at least once over the past 3 seasons. Not to imply that all of the blame for that would be on Flip, but its clear that he has been part of the failure.

Its been clear that he isn't the right man to get us there for a while. Our window will likely be closed if we fail this year with or without Flip, but just the same I'd prefer to see him gone.

I think the last thing a team of vets like Detroit needs is a rookie head coach.

It's not Flip's fault that this team is a bunch of cocky pricks that think they can turn it on and off at any time. If they gave 100% all the time they would be in the Finals already.

Sheed and Billups are both really cocky. I think it's because this team is made up of outcasts and now that they've hit the "big time" they feel like they are the best.

No way. :nonono:

I have never defended Flip in the past, but you can't fire him for losing against a powerful Celtics team, especially when coaching a team that wasn't 100% (especially now with Rip's injury). If the Pistons lost against the Sixers or Magic, it would be considered. But, not when they lose in 6 or 7 games to a 66-win Boston team in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Plus, what is Plan B? Which available candidates could have pushed the Pistons into the Finals?

I don't get what's so bad about Flip. Looking at the pistons bench is incredible, and he has played them very well. I don't see much evidence of him being inept, in fact i'd go as far to say that he's a good coach. I'm really confused as to the hate he gets on here. It's obvious that Detroit's main problem is a complacent attitude amongst the starting five.

hes not a good coach but its not his fault

the pisotns winnign a title was more aberration then how its usally done

99.9 percent of the time u win a title having arguably the bets player in the elague on your team whos an iconic all time great player

the pisotns have none of those, its amazing they won one i dont see it happenign again without that great go to guy hof player

I generally agree with what you are saying. Aside from Rip, Sheed and Billups have been complacent in the playoffs. Prince is always an excellent defender, so I would not fault him. But, I agree that they have not connected as they normally do. They have yet to play with a true sense of urgency.

I agree with SunTzu. I don't think Flip deserves to be thrown under the bus. There's only so much he can do for the team. He can't make them show up to play. Dyess and Maxiell and Stuckey are the ones putting in their best games. Everyone else...not so much. The Celtics are as strong as any team in the West right now. They have a lot of offense, good supporting cast, and a good bench.

He just isn't a very good coach. Let him go please

Over-reaction, no? Don't really need to screw up a team that's been in the ECFs 6 straight years and has been a competitor for the title in everyone one of those years.

And if they fire Flip who'd replace him? Avery Johnson? That MIGHT work.

Saunders already had enough chances to prove he was more than an x and O coach.

Flip needed to be fired last year.

Flip will never lead any team past the conference finals. It is unfortunate that Joe D and Mr D still don't realize that.
