Question about Jerry West

Do you think he is happy that he gave the Lakers Gasol for nothing and let them become the champions?
After all, West was GM but he already sold the team, in 2007, he was only acting as GM until a replacement could be found.
This is like conspiracy stuff right here. What if West when he sold Memphis set out to sabotage the team while making his alma mater good, he is still loyal to the Lakers.

My thoughts exactly.

So let me get this straight. Heisely and the Grizz sucked. They may or may not want to be sold. Gasol was on the block for a year.. when he said " I want to be traded" , Heisley said he talked to the bulls about a trade but was not offered what he wanted. He decided to go for cap relief... and Jerry West was no longer the GM.
So, did West wine and dine Heisley? Say.. " you must save money" " you must trade with the Lakers"
I dont understand how Jerry West was a big influence based on what Heisley was looking for in return.

It was the worst trade of all time. Forget cap relief. We received nothing in return for an allstar. An expiring Kwame did the trick? How can you argue that this was not one-sided?
Oh, and it probably is satire, but I sadly agree with it.

Not saying it wasnt a lopsided deal. I just fail to see how West was reason.

The kick in the balls is that the Bulls were offering significantly more the year prior than what the Grizzlies ended up getting.

I suppose they were not ready to deal him just yet? and or.. they hung on for something.... and at that point it was about savings?
I agree that the Bulls had a better package to offer the year before but that was when the Grizz were luke warm on trading him.

Jerry lives in LA and is a Laker for life. You cant question a man who has been involved in the Lakers for 40 years and honoring his protege and the been a major part in the Lakers success.

Point taken. The same could be said about McHale. So, I sort of feel like it's an interesting conspiracy theory regardless of its truth.
