if you believe, espn, he is.
Multiple sources told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that Terry Porter is the new coach of the Phoenix Suns.
Terry Porter
Porter
Suns general manager Steve Kerr called Porter on Saturday morning to offer him the job, and Porter accepted.

Good choice, especially since he was let go in Milwaukee in favor of George Karl's boy Terry Stotts. Only because Karl kept bitching on how he thought Stotts should have been given a chance.
Porter will do a good job there. Looks like the fun and gun days are over there, Porter is more of defensive coach which was why Kerr hired him.
It ain't no secret Kerr was no fan of that offense D'Antoni ran.

Is Porter someone that going to get them past the Lakers and Spurs. I guess you can hope he can take the leap. As of right now feels like the Suns have downgraded there coaching situation.

Even when the Lakers were struggling after shaq, phil left they still hired a coach with championship experience in Rudy Tomjanovich. Obviously he wasn't around long enough to judge but the man had coached for the championship.
What's Porter ever accomplished?
Steven Kerr is blowing it for the suns
(If this hiring is true)

I always liked him and I thougfht he got a raw deal with the Bucks after just one bad season when it was predicted before that they would um... suck.

His rotations and out of timeout plays left a lot to be desired.

And who were they supposed to sign ? Avery ? LOL
There's not much out there and it was obvios they weren't going anywhere with D'Antoni and Amare and Shaq weren't happy with him.

...which is obviously why in his first year as a GM his executive moves consisted of gettin rid of the team's best post-defender (Kurt Thomas), best perimeter defender (Marion), and another defensively solid rotation player in James Jones!

Yeah b-ball he's slowly trying to remake that team over.

Yeah, but gettin rid of the team's best defenders usually isn't the sorta moves you'd expect from a so-called "defensive minded" GM

Trading Kurt Thomas wasn't Kerr's decision it was Sarver's .
The Marion / Shaq thing was mutual from everyone from Kerr to D'Antoni and Sarver . Appearantly D'Antoni pushed for it the most.

Good luck motivating Shaq, Terry. Steve Kerr should have to coach that team.

And partly D'Antoni's. He slowed them down too much.

Actually, Terry was really the only coach that got into TJ and made him a good and under control player. When Porter left after TJ's injury season, TJ developed Napoleon Complex and thought he was the best and started taking all the shots. So Porter can motivate guys, we'll see how he does with Shaq.

doesn't really matter who the coach is..the Suns players aren't going to win anything anymore, and the Phoenix Suns are just a pathetic franchise..good luck to Terry Porter though..maybe Nash and Stoudemire will start playing defense..maybe Shaq will be able to defend the pick and roll or make a FT..

Shaq has trouble releasing the ball from his hands, its nothing that can be solved.

Something you have in common with Lakers' fans!

LMAO @ the Suns owner yet again trying to save money. Rather than pay for an established, high profile, $$$ coach, they hire a coach who is low profiled, and who they think in their opinion has "potential to suceed".
That isn't going to cut it in this league. They finally got rid of Pringles and had a chance to upgrade their hole at coach and find somebody who is going to get them over the hump finally, and i'm not sure Porter is the guy who can do it for them.

And who where they supposed to get ? Avery and Flip are the only bigger names still out there and both have been exposed for various flaws in the playoffs .
