Curt Schilling on KG and Kobe

I thought this was very interesting perspective from a casual observer. I didn't sense any bias in this article. I thought his commentary on Kobe particularly stood out b/c this doesn't sound like the new Kobe who "loves" his teammates. You decide.

not a big deal..he was just pushing his teammates..this is what Kobe does, and everybody already knows it..the "new" Kobe is more about his playing style, not his leadership approach..I think everybody agrees that Kobe is an ****, just like Mike was..Jordan was just more effective..
**** Curt Schilling anyways..he's always talking about other people..he's a smug bastard that looks down on everybody else, as if he's something special..

What if we started a thread on anyone who has an opinion about Kobe. That'd be awesome.

Did you read the part where he said his teammates would just roll their eyes? Kobe wasn't a motivator like MJ. MJ was an ass and everyone knew it (more so when he was younger), even MJ. Kobe is an ass and tries to act like he is not. I think a player should yell at his teammates if they continuously screw up, but don't try to act like that's not the way it is.

It's really just not about Kobe. It is about the whole game. Maybe you should read it and stop being defensive.

It wasn't an opinion they were observations.

What exactly are you getting at?

ohhh observations. Okay. Let's start a thread on someone who has had the complete opposite observation. Because you know, there are people out there who see things differently. Why is a baseball player relevant anyway?

I only know what I have heard, starting awhile back with the entire Shaq debacle.

But as a fan I was watching the whole thing, Kobe, his teammates and then the after effects of conversations. He

Complete BS. Stop making stuff up.
I remember after a Mavs/Lakers game in the regular season Odom was interviewed after and said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "The one thing I learned about playing with Kobe is that you've got to want it, he pushes you to be the best."
Also, a direct quote from Farmar.
"Killer instinct, that's right," Farmar said afterward. "We are starting to pick it up from Kobe, the guy who had the most killer instinct that's ever been."
Farmar looked over the heads of dozens of media members, over to Bryant's empty locker, and smiled.
"We're really trying to get that killer instinct of Kobe's, because we know that's the one thing that can help us grow into a championship team."
Again, you don't have a clue of what you're talking about.

He is a baseball player. He doesn't understand the tempo and intensity of a professional basketball game, and admits it.
Doesn't baseball have a whole bunch of "mini series" during the regular season though, along with the playoffs? Momentum/players' attitudes along with many other things can change quickly during the course of an intense series, especially during the playoffs... and he should know that. If you ask me he just sounds like a Boston homer.

Also, this won't make Boston fans too happy. LOL.
Every SINGLE play up and down the floor has MULTIPLE fouls being committed by multiple players. These guys are in close, every play. They are beating the crap out of each other, and the refs see it. That makes me think that the game is called and paced exactly how the refs want it to be. I wondered aloud, a few times, how in the hell calls weren't being made against the Celts on a ton of plays in the paint where there was some serious pugilism being committed. There were a ton of 'non-calls' in my incredibly amateur opinion.

Sounds like Bryant is kind of the George Bush of basketball. In a position of complete power yet has no idea how to lead. The difference being that Bryant is surrounded by talented people.

What do you think would happen if Bryant's teammates didn't compliment his leadership in interviews? Can you imagine what Bryant would do (both on and off the court) to those teammates? Conversely do you think teammates would want to say good things about Bryant if it meant more shots, more court-time, overall team harmony etc.? I think so.

An intense baseball series can NEVER compare to an intense basketball GAME. There is more going on in 24 seconds of basketball than an entire inning of baseball.

But wouldn't you agree it's better to be the President than affiliated with a gang?

The President who kills thousands of innocent people is obviously a worse occupation than a gang member.
