Who is going to be the next dominant perimeter scorer after Kobe Bryant? This isn't limited to NBA players.

I say OJ Mayo. he's is the only guy who has that killer instinct like Kobe.

Out of this class the most likely guys are Gordon and Mayo.

Eric Gordon is going to flop. He makes terrible decisions. Doesn't play a lick of defense. He doesn't get up and down the court as well as he should and I think his athleticism is overrated.

How does anybody project OJ Mayo's NBA killer instinct prior to his arrival..

If GM's had a notion that OJ Mayo has the potential to be as good as Kobe Bryant, OJ Mayo would be the consensus #1 pick in this draft..

His athleticism is overrated?

He's a solidly built 222 pound PG with a 40 inch vert and tested out as one of the best athletes at the pre-draft camp in terms of lane agility and sprinting ability.

He has the ability to slash, finish at the rim, and stretch a defense with a perimeter shot.

Question his defense. But his scoring and athleticism? Don't be absurd.

It would depend how long they would expect Mayo to reach Kobe standards or any where near it.

Please. Pre-draft camp workouts mean very little. How many IU games did you watch?

I watched plenty and the guy 1) has very poor shot selection 2) if it weren't for him going to the line so much he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did 3) he wont go to line as much in the NBA 4) he played in a super weak conference

I'm confused......What exactly does the # Kobe was picked have to do with what I posted which was in response to "Mayo would be the consensus #1 pick if they thought he was the next Kobe"

My point is an NBA GMs opinion is a) not important in this question b) not that important period

GMs drop the ball all the time. Ask the Raptors and the Bobcats.

Furthermore potential is not the only deciding factor because in that case Gerald Green should have gone #1 in 2005. Team needs also play a huge role.

No GM purposely "drops the ball" on draft day. They always make decisions based on what they think is best for their club. What GM's think doesn't affect draft position? Are you serious?

Are you reading what I posted? I never said purposely. It happens. GMs make mistakes.

The two players currently ahead of OJ Mayo play different positions. (And it needs to be said he has a decent chance of going number 2) Team needs also matter.

Teams don't draft players with expectations of them leaving... The way it's setup is for teams to pay their players more, thus not anticipating their departure..

Besides, Kobe wasn't really a great player until his 5th season of 00-01, just like T-Mac wasn't a great player until that same season, with it being his 4th year...
