Game 5 I believe
hate to put more fuel to the fire but this is just absolutely atrocious officiating, especially on Yao

Well those are the Houston announcers so they are definitely biased.

That whole business with Michael Finley standing out of bounds to make a strip still bothers me. Maybe Van Gundy was right.
The NBA is losing credibility by the truckload right now, and I think it's deserved. Stern goes crazy and punishes anyone who "challenges" the game's integrity to the point where officials felt invincible, and they began doing whatever they wanted. Hopefully this leads to the owners firing David Stern's ass. He's got egg on his face now after how he dealt with the whole JVG thing.

Game 5 of that series had some god-awful calls.
I'm a Houston fan, so there is a tinge of bias in this post, but it honestly felt like we were constantly playing 5 on 8.

the thing that annoys me the most about that vid (which ive seen posted on here 3 times today) is the 1st 2 plays on this vid are good calls (or in the 1st play a good no call)
but yea there were some bad calls
the announcers make me want to strangle them though

I didn't watch too much but that second one was correct as a moving screen on Yao. The refs usually don't call it at all but that one was pretty clear.
I am sure that there were tons of bad calls in there.

Dallas is a larger media market, but Houston has a vastly superior population density and a much more significant international following than Dallas.
Wouldn't the NBA, considering it's ever expanding international interest, prefer Houston's victory?

The first play on Wesley looked pretty clean to me. Looked like the defender got all ball. The moving screen on Yao could have gone either way, not a terrible call.
The rest were horrible.

I watched the video, here's what I thought about each play (bad calls in bold):
--The first play (Terry's block on Wesley) is a clean block.
--The second play (Yao's moving pick) was a moving pick, but like the announcers said that play happens all the time without a call.
--The third play (Yao's foul) wasn't a foul. In fact I would say that Yao was playing pretty soft on that play.
--The fourth play (Yao's foul) was a loose ball foul and a correct call
--The fifth play (Stackhouse winning the tip) was a fair jump, I thought. The announcers are acting like homers at this point
--The sixth play (Nowitzki's offensive foul no call) was an offensive foul
--The seventh play (Yao hit on the arm while making the shot) was a foul, he was hit on the arm but no call
--The eighth play (Yao gets fouled, Nowitzki complains) was a foul that was correctly called
--The ninth play (Yao gets called for the offensive foul) was a foul...but on the Alan Henderson the defensive player
--The tenth play (Nowitzki wins the tip) seemed fair to me
--The 11th play (Padgett airball) was a clean play, Padgett was not hit, fell down on his own, but the announcers still complained
After that there's a montage of 3-4 plays that the announcers complain about, but they don't specify the bad calls.
--The next play is a looseball foul on Jon Barry, which was the correct one. He was stripped cleanly by Finley and tripped up Stackhouse...but Finley was out of bounds when he stripped the ball.

I think the underlying issue is that both Donaghey and JVG have said the ONLY problem that series was the refs calling ILLEGAL SCREENS on Yao Ming. Any other bias would be irrelevant since we have no claims (besides of Houston fans) otherwise. JVG doesn't say it; Donaghey doesn't say it. Many of the bad calls can be attributed to bad refereeing. Thanks to the poster above me to actually watch the video subjectively. The footage included in the link showed many plays that could only be interpreted in Houston's favor if the watcher was a Houston fan. Others were distinctly in the Mavs favor. However, refs make many bad calls per game. We have no evidence of them favoring the Mavs EXCEPT for the Yao Ming issue, which I've said before were ILLEGAL SCREENS to begin with. Thus, the video is irrelevant to the discussion and only adds fuel to the fire. The OP probably wanted to intensify the Mavs-Rockets rivalry (which apparently only the Rockets think we have).

Wow, thanks for refreshing my memory of this game. That was some of the worst officiating I've ever seen.

The first play wasn't that bad but the point is not the calls but they way they were calling the game. Totally biased
BTW Tracy McGrady dominated that series.
