I would only if they get rid of Stern and his men, this includes every single ref believe to be involved in the scandal.

I would not consider any team that won a ring during a questionable Playoffs champions anymore, the 02 Lakers, maybe even Jordan's Bulls.

I'm one of the pro-Donaghy people here(only in this case), but just because the NBA wanted the Lakers and Mavs to win those series, it doesn't make the whole NBA rigged..it's not the same at all..it would be impossible for anybody to rig the entire outcome of a sport for the year, it just doesn't happen..it would have definitely leaked out earlier, and the players would have noticed..

if it's investigated and we find out that Donaghy was telling the truth about those series, specifically Lakers-Kings, there should be a few punishments..

1-Stern is gone..this one would have to happen 100%, since Stern would have been involved..
2-Lakers 2002 title is stripped..this one has to happen too, or else the NBA loses credibility..

The NBA has already lost credibility long before Donaghy came out with this. But I don't think the Lakers 2002 title should be stripped because there's no guarantee the Kings would've won that series and it opens a Pandora's box on all the other titles. Like in 2006 with Wade getting a buttload of FT's more than Jordan ever has and the entire Mavs team. That isn't suspect? It was to me and I don't care for either team all that much. After that series I stopped watching the NBA as a whole and just follow it online. Then other teams will start getting into it and saying how they were robbed etc.


The best way for the NBA to regain its standing is to get rid of Stern and his refs and start all over. Also get rid of these rules that has made the NBA so soft.

I love the NBA, there's no doubting that. BUT.....

-Lakers/Celtics Finals?
-Lakers get Gasol for absolutely nothing? Just prospects, but who can ever guarantee a prospect?
-Boston make it to the Finals in the first year they revamped?
-Lakers basically revamp in one year and also make it to the Finals? Even if they had the majority of this team, no one would ever think they were Finals worthy, so the league hands them Gasol.
-Bulls just happen to get the first overall pick when they barely had a shot at him? Everyone remembers who MJ played for, right?
-Personal example...The only team from Canada gets the first overall pick in the draft where there's no defined number one pick? They also won the lottery when A.I. was first overall but couldn't have him for some reason (why would you reveal them as the original winner of the lottery then?)...
-There's no way Atlanta would have taken Boston to a game 7, only cause the league wanted ratings ala David versus Goliath
etc. etc. etc.

However, a monkey wrench is kinda thrown into the plans because the "boring" Spurs won 4 titles. I mean, if you wanted ratings, why would you show the Spurs so consistently? They definitely made up for it by following San Antonio/Cleveland with Boston/LA who even casual fans would recognize. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but there's something fishy going on...just sayin'

Why should they be logically stripped of the title? It was Game 6 not Game 7 and the Lakers didn't rig the game the Refs did. If the Kings won Game 7 this wouldn't have been an issue. Of course you're a Nets fan so I see why you would want the Lakers title to be stripped but its not like the Patriots where they actively cheated to win. The Lakers didn't do such a thing( as far as we know) so they shouldn't lose their title over it. Now a possible asterisk would be another story.

Superstar treatment and the refs being told to favor one side exists in the NBA. It's evident in games. I didn't TD to tell me about that.

IF the NBA is proven to be rigged some much needed changes would be forced to happen... and that could result in a positive result I guess.

I don't see any big names leaving the competiton in anger or disgust... the league just pays way too much money to give up aswell as being 'the premier competition' in the world along side the celebrity status.

Yeah the reputation would be tinted for a long time (if not forever), But it would result in a major revamp in officiating and ofcourse the top and like many posters I wouldn't stop watching, becuase to be honest... I'd rather watch the WNBA than Australian basketball

If there's conclusive evidence that the NBA has been rigged... I'm through with basketball, and therefore, done with sports.

This is the only league I've ever paid any attention to; the only sport I'm somewhat decent with. If the NBA is rigged, I'll never watch another game. I'll probably sell my basketball video games. Likely cancel my cable, since I don't really watch anything else on TV.

As it stands right now, the NBA is on notice. I'm in too deep, too emotionally invested, to give it a second chance.

As others have said, if this is true, I want--at the very least--Stern out and gone. Really, I want that right now anyways. The players have been on good behavior this year (minus Carmelo and Lebron's tickets)... instead, what have we gotten?

-a huge scandal about the owners of a team
-a referee fixing games
-two lop-sided blockbuster trades (one far more so than the other, admittedly)... involving GMs-making-a-crappy-deal-for-their-former-team... and now both teams end up in the finals
-the first pick in the draft going to a team with a low chance of winning it
-And now... allegations that fixing games wasn't confined to one ref.

David Stern... you reap what you sow. If there's another huge scandal, I'm done.
