OT: Why is college ball different

Post#1 » by cdubbz » Tue Jun 17, 2008 11:45 pm

I don't get why college rules are so much different from the NBA and even high school. It seems like coming from high school players have to adjust to a whole new game and from college to the NBA is a whole different game too. Why does college all of a sudden go to 2 halves?! Makes no sense to me. All their life players play 4 quarters and are accustomed to 4 quarters, but when they go to college they play 2 gigantic halves. Also the court is smaller for the college players which makes it look ridiculous. Theyre playing in a high school regulated court in terms of key and 3point line; the players are much bigger in college and they look like giants playing on a mini court. Have you ever seen the spacing in the college game? its horrible. Its hard for players to develop real moves because inside the 3point line it gets so congested with players. The key is very tiny and college players cant get any spacing in the post to develop moves. The 3point line is too close and leaves way too mcuh floor space from the top the the 3point line to the half court line. I feel college players would benefit from a wider key and the 3point line a little further out, but not NBA range ( i know theyre fixing the 3point line to international next season).

Nothing like the atmosphere in a college game.

Every game feels like a playoff game.

Until the game actually starts and you realize that not a single player on the court can execute or guard a pick and roll properly or make proper movements without the ball...
