Best Current Player To Not Win A Championship?

Post#1 » by kdot99 » Wed Jun 18, 2008 5:23 am

Lets say with at least, 7 years of experience. So that excludes Yao and Amare. I'd make a poll but there are quite a few options that I'd probably leave out

Here a the first few that popped into my mind:

- Jason Kidd
- Allen Iverson
- Tracy McGrady
- Steve Nash
- Dirk Nowitzki
- Vince Carter (Was once the star of the '98 class -- Pierce and Dirk have accomplished more than him. I find it kind of sad)
- Elton Brand

Kobe's the best to not have won as a #1 option though..poor guy..

Amongst those with legit NBA tenure I'd go with Iverson.
Jerry Reinsdorf; the undisputed king of allowing his GM's to run amok with unchecked power and ego. :king:

The poster said players with 7+ years of experience. Very few players if any have ever led a team to a title at his age.

Well, Mutombo is still ring-less, right?

Dikembe Mutombo should be considered, although he should have the "current" title shedded soon. Iverson and Kidd still have more of a chance with their respective teams.

You're so bitter after the lakers practically swept the spurs so easily this year. Don't worry there is always next year. Although I don't see them getting by the new lakers, especially when Bynum comes back. We did move through the west pretty easily without our second option and our starting center. 8-)

Most Deserving goes to A.I or Kidd. Its hard seeing guys like this who pour their hearts into the game and not come up with anything. With the Kidd trade earlier this year I hoped it would've gotten him closer to the ring, but seems like it might've set him back even further.

Sympathy vote goes to T-mac :(

your hate/dislike for kobe keeps showing more and more with each non-related LA/Kobe like thread, a la such, that you find a way to insert Kobe's name in there. :dontknow: why?

that makes a lot of sense..you know, considering I've been saying it for years(way before the Lakers were even good again)..

the question is about the best player not to have won..I gave my answer, and then I pointed out that Kobe was the best not to have a title as a #1 option..that's a compliment, because I'm implying that he's better than all those guys AND better than some other guys that don't have titles(#1 or not) like Lebron, Paul, Howard..those are some big name players..so technically, I'm actually complimenting Kobe..

Prime T-Mac is better than all of them imo.

I'd say the best right now is either Dirk or Nash. But if we're looking at primes, I would maybe go with Kidd or T-Mac.

2. Jason Kidd
3. Tracy McGrady
4. Dikembe Mutombo (Almost forgot he was still in the league...jeez!)

5. Brand (He plays for the f'in Clippers and made the playoffs only once)
4. Mutombo (Oldest player in the league, a charitable person, and a future HOF yet no ring)
3. T-Mac (Seems like he can never get past the hump; a shame, because he is a great person and player)
2. Kidd (A top 5 point guard all time, seems as if he doesn't have enough talent around him)
1. Iverson (The hardest worker of them all, gritty, durable, plays each game like his last, and it's sad that he hasn't won a ring yet)

Nash
Dirk
Kidd

(Funny how the best two PGs of that generation have never won a chip. Hope Paul and Derron do better.)

and I'll throw a vote out to Mutumbo. The best AI ever did was when Mutumbo had his back.

Oh, and I guess AI too.

... It's actually hard to avoid players with less than 7 years.

1. Dikembe Mutombo - He's been in the league for so long and done so much for humanity, he is the most deserving of a closing legacy in the form of an NBA title
2. Allen Iverson - All heart, no rings
3. Steve Nash - He's hardly been on a team that has sucked
4. Dirk Nowitzki - One of the best European's to play in the NBA
5. Jason Kidd - Going with the flow, although I'm not much of a Kidd fan

6. Tracy McGrady - I like TMac, but is he really worthy of a champ when guys like Malone, Barkley and Ewing have had none?

Definitely Kidd... he "was" a dominant PG that could influence a game on both sides of the ball - and he came so close a couple of years.
