I don't really think they have much of a shot, but at 50-1, the Heat are a nice play to lay some shortbread.
Edit: Also, at 60-1, the Knicks are an insane place to lay some shortbread.
I know, it's not who will win, it's who will bet.

Huh? They could make odds for the 2050 championship right now. They are just based on current information and will change every day as new information comes in, all the way until the final game of the NBA finals.

Man... no love for the Celtics. I understand that Bynum is coming back, but the Celts are the better team now and going into next season.

Detroit 10-1? Aren't they going to gut their team? I think it's a bit premature to predict the champion for next season, so much can and will change.

I don't like the Spurs odds, I wanted them to be worse..but I'd still lay money on 8-1..not right now though, I could definitely find a worse odd for them IMO..just have to wait a few weeks..

What was Boston at the end of last year? Anyone bet that? To early for odds. So much can happen from now till the start of the season.

I'd also take 50-1 odds on Miami. They were tanking at unprecedented levels last year, but that team has a lot of talent, especially when you add the #2 pick into the mix. I wouldn't say they're favorites, but I expect them to finish VERY high in the Eastern Conference.

Cavs at 15-1? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

That would be foolish because I've seen much higher odds on the Heat. I saw a line that had them listed at 200-1.
50-1 or 200-1, it's all wasted money because the Heat aren't going anywhere next season.
If by VERY high you mean 5th or maybe 4th in the east next year you might be right.
The people who come up with these odds aren't idiots. They know the only way they can get money on some teams (Usually homer fans) is to have really high odds.

You would think the champions would have a better chance than the team they just demolished.

How can the Lakers be 1-2 while the Celtics are 1-4? I mean if the Celtics face the Lakers next year, I'd put all my money on them at 1-2 odds. I mean the mismatch is HUGE between these two teams. Kobe is nothing against the Celtics defense. The Celtics went 6-2 against the Lakers if you include the season series. Not even Bynum can make up that ground.
The Jazz have nice odds to gamble on at 1-16. I think they were a top 5 team in the playoffs this season, again, so given they'll likely make the second round next year, and maybe with even some homecourt, I like their odds in advancing far. Also remember they had the best record vs playoff teams in the west last season, atleast amongst teams in the west, and besides the Celtics, the Jazz were the only team to beat every team atleast once. 38-12 since acquiring Korver was the second best record in the league in that stretch besides Houston (remember the big winning streak?).
The Hornets at 1-15 aint another bad team to place money on.

for the celtics you gotta consider that their star players are on the downward side of their career. their solid role players like pj brown and sam cassell can't really be counted on due to their age. who knows if they even play next yr. they also would be completing the difficult task of repeating as champion, something the spurs know very well. the lakers role players on the other hand, were young non-veterans who just got tons of experience. they'll be getting andrew bynum back who is not only a rising star, he fills some of the lakers' most glaring weaknesses.
not sure i agree that the lakers should have those odds compared to the celtics, but its not out of the question.

Ever year at the end of the season, I put 10 dollar bets on the 5 worst teams in the league just for the hell of it, and this is the first year it actually paid off. You never know who will make what trades and Boston helped fat up my wallet.
