The exact opposite of the Most Improved Player award. The player whose physical performance, statistics and/or team contribution had suffered the greatest drop for whatever reason (age, injury, laziness etc) from 2006-07 to 2007-08?


Gilbert Arenas? Eddy Curry? Shaquille O'Neal? Grant Hill (in the playoffs)? Ruben Patterson? Who gets the coveted trophy?

It can also be a discussion about great players and their natural decline that was observed during this past season.

Shaq would have easily won if he didn't go to Phoenix..he definitely rejuvenated himself there(or started trying harder)..

Grant Hill did what was expected of him, and that was to provide his half court skillset from a passing and scoring perspective. Had D'Antoni been more careful maybe he could be healthy enough to play against the Spurs. Since it's a given that he's a health risk, to play 70 games and provide the intangibles on both ends of the floor, you'd say he exceeded expectations.

Pretty much anyone from the Bulls is candidate for this award.

Ben Wallace?

Contrary to popular opinion he was pretty good for the Bulls in 06-07 aside from his slow start. But this year he was just terrible. A liability on offense like usual, but his rebounding was way down, and his defense was getting worse. Not sure how he was in Cleveland because I only saw a few games (and he didn't do much in those games).

yeah I agree with you but he had at least a decent season last in 2006/07.

then again it was on the 2nd worst team in the league back then

josh howard had about 5 good games in the like the last half of the season

Well Ruben Patterson had the highest statistical decrease for any non-injured player.
Here is the list of the top 10 noticably aging players in the league in terms of degree of depreciation:


1.Ruben Patterson, 33 (5 ppg, highest deperciation)
2.Damon Stoudemire, 34 (not only ceased to be a starting PG, not even good enough to be a 3rd string)
3.Shaquille O'Neal, 35 (getting further from his 29 ppg days)
4.Juwan Howard, 34 (1 ppg after averaging around 10 ppg the last 3 seasons)
5.Mike James, 32 (His 2.7 ppg are a huge decline from the 20.3 ppg with the Raps 2 years ago)
6. Earl Boykins, 32 (35% FG)
7. Eddie Jones, 36 (Not a consistent off the bench option)
8. Donyell Marshall, 35 (ceased to be a rotation player)
9. Kenny Thomas, 30 (not a rotation player anymore, scoring/rebounding low)

Whats funny about these lists is the shear number of I told you so's. Man there's a bunch of guys that people were suggesting the Cavs trade for.

When I saw this thread I immediately thought of Sam I Am. Obviously he is older but he was expected to be a solid backup for Boston. Instead he turned into a side show who can`t do anything but put shots up and not make them. He was pretty solid on the Clips but now he`s just completely done.

Steve Francis say hello. He has a slip that is only worthy of such names like Darius Miles, Shawn Kemp and Vin Baker. Granted I don't think he is an alcoholic/cocaine abuser. But he has fallen of the face of the planet.

Hinrich was definitely the most disappointing on the Bulls. Fell off on both sides of the ball. Had a stretch of phenomenal games, but that was it, just a stretch of 10-15 games.

with that criteria and considering he did not fall all the way to the bottom, however, IMO had the biggest drop was D Wade. not saying he wont rebounce next year just saying he lost a lot of brownie points.
